Eddie Ishman
American Eddie Ishman (196-F) had a very impressive game in the last round for Canarios and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 20.
The forward had a double-double of 41 points and twenty eight rebounds, while his team crushed Santiagueno (#11, 2-13) with 23-point margin 127-104. Canarios is placed at 3rd position in Salvadorean Liga MB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Canarios will need more victories to improve their 11-4 record. In the team's last game Ishman had a remarkable 76.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Canarios' top player in his first season with the team. Miles College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Ishman is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 17.5rpg) and averages solid 1.7bpg,2.7spg and 64.0% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old American point guard Shahmel Brackett (183-PG-91) of Santiagueno. Brackett impressed basketball fans with 50 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Santiagueno lost that game 104-127 to the higher-ranked Canarios (#3, 11-4). Santiagueno is still second from the bottom in the standings. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Santiagueno managed to get this year. Brackett is a newcomer at Santiagueno and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 28.7ppg (#5). His other stats are also decent: 5.2rpg and 4.8apg.

The third best performed player last round was another Canarios' star - American David Lawson (185-PG-89). Lawson got into 30-points club by scoring 43 points in the last round. He went also for five rebounds and eleven assists. He was another key player of Canarios, helping his team with a 127-104 easy win against the lower-ranked Santiagueno (#11, 2-13). Canarios needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 4 lost games. Lawson has a great season in El Salvador. After 15 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 37.3ppg (best scorer) and assists with 6.7apg (3rd best). Lawson attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Tobias Dowdell (201-F-90) of Santa Ana - 32 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Eliezer Montano (206-F/C-91) of El Rapido - 21 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Jovany Austin (201-F-92) of Arcense - 20 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Oreste Torres (204-PF-87) of Santa Tecla - 25 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Malik Jackson (198-F-92) of 11 Lobos - 36 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Joshua White (191-G-88) of 11 Lobos - 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Alexander Ruano (170-PG-85) of Santa Ana - 23 points

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Reid's double-double lands him Liga MB Player of the Week award - 1 day ago
Forward Joe Reid (200-F) had a great game in the last round for Arcense and receives a Latinbasket.com Liga MB Player of the Week award for round 24. He had a double-double of 50 points and 12 rebounds, while his team crushed Santiagueno (#13, 2-16) with 22-point margin 129-107. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Arcense maintains the 10th position in Salvadorean Liga MB. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently...   [read more]

Liga MB Round 24: Quezaltepeque lose to El Rapido - 2 days ago
