Brazil - USA 47-71
USA won the Gold at U18 FIBA Americas Championship. They cruised past Brazil 71-47 to defend the title in Gurabo. Brazil opened the game better making 16-7 lead in the first ten minutes, but all after that belonged to USA. They needed just few minutes to tie the score and later USA went to the halftime with 5-point lead. Brazil - USA 47-71 USA won the Gold at U18 FIBA Americas Championship. They cruised past Brazil 71-47 to defend the title in Gurabo. Brazil opened the game better making 16-7 lead in the first ten minutes, but all after that belonged to USA. They needed just few minutes to tie the score and later USA went to the halftime with 5-point lead. USA continued in the same rhythm after the breather creating 21-7 in Q3 for plus 19 with ten minutes remaining in the game. It was too much for Brazil and USA brought gold medal to the country. Morgan Tuck (188-F-94) stepped up for the winners with double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Michaela Mabrey (175-G-94) had 14 points and 5 rebs, while Breanna Stewart (191-F/C-94) helped with 13 pts and 10 boards in this victory. At the other side, Isabela Ramona (178-F-94) was better than the others with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Their second scorers were Thamara Silva (187-C-94) and Estela Gregorio (177-G-94). Argentina won the Bronze in Gurabo.

Argentina - Canada 53-49 Argentina had to work very hard against Canada to take the gold medal at U18 FIBA Americas in Gurabo. Argentina celebrated 53-49 win on Sunday in the game for third place. Victoria Llorente (184-F/C-96) was the leading player in victory with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Florencia Martinez (170-G-94) scored 11 points and Julieta Armesto (179-F-94) added 7 pts, plus 5 rebs. In the loosing squad, Cheyanne Roger (188-C-95) answered with 13 points and 8 rebs. Michelle Hudyn (188-F) followed her with 8 points and 6 rebs, while Paige Crozon (186-F-94) stopped to 6 pts in this loss. Canada shined at the beginning of this game making 11-point lead in the first ten minutes, but Argentineans immediately woke up after that. They made 25-12 in Q2 for 2-point lead at the halftime. Third period belonged to Canada 13-11 and teams went to the last ten minutes tied at 45-45. Argentina stopped its rival to only six points for the entire Q4, while they scored 8 at the other side and it was enough for the victory. USA defended the gold medal in Gurabo, while Brazil won the silver.

Colombia - Puerto Rico 46-56 Puerto Rico won the fifth place in Gurabo. The host of U18 FIBA Americas Championship handed 56-46 loss to Colombia in the last day of the competition. Krystal Luciano (96) top-scored in victory with 14 points and Diamalises Rivera (93) followed her with 13, but she also grabbed 7 rebounds beside that. Claudia Ortiz (96) delivered 10 points. In Colombia, Maria Tapias (95) posted 18 points and Laura Ramirez (94) added 10 points, plus 6 rebs. Diana Prens (96) collected 9 points and 8 boards in this defeat. Puerto Rico was up by 6 at the halftime and Colombia cut the margin to 5 with ten minutes to go in the game. The hosts shined in the last quarter and later won this game with comfortable 56-46. USA defended the gold medal in Gurabo. Silver belongs to Brazil, while Argentina won the bronze.

Mexico - Dominican Republic 64-33 Mexico avoided last place at U18 FIBA Americas Championship in Gurabo. They blasted Dominican Republic 64-33 in the last day of the competition and it was a game for the seventh place. Mexico took control on its rival from the very beginning and never looked back. Quarters: 14-5, 25-7, 11-13, 14-8. Myriam Lara led the winners with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Maria Morales scored 12 points and Maria Faz (95) added 10 pts, plus 9 boards. In defeat, Cheisy Hernandez (94) was better than the others with 12 points. Libia Peralta had 7 pts and 9 rebounds. USA defended the gold medal at this event. They handed 71-47 loss to Mexico in the Big Final. Argentina is the bronze medal winner.

All Semifinalists already booked a ticker for 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship. Morgan Tuck (188-F-94) led USA with 22 points and Breanna Stewart (6'3''-F/C-94) had 20 points, plus 8 rebounds. Colombia - Mexico 70-45 Colombia made a first step toward fifth place at U18 FIBA Americas Chamionship in Gurabo. They handed 70-45 loss to Mexico on Saturday. In order to take position No.5, Colombia will have to beat Puerto Rico. At the other side, Mexico will meet Dominican Republic trying to avoid last place at this event. Colombia took control on its rival from the beginning and never looked back. Quarters: 18-11, 22-7, 15-15, 15-12. Laura Ramirez (94) and Elizabeth Gutierrez (94) led the winners with 13 and 11 points respectively. Marlyn Vente (96) added 11 points and 7 rebs. In defeat, Maria Faz (95) answered with 10 points and Maria Morales (95) added 8 pts, plus 12 boards. Competition in Gurabo will end today (Sunday).
Puerto Rico - Dominican Republic 68-35 Puerto Rico outplayed Dominican Republic 68-35 on Saturday. It means that the host of U18 FIBA Americas made a first step toward fifth place in Gurabo. They will have to beat Colombia on Sunday to take this spot. Dominican Republic will fight for seventh place against Mexico. All of the above mentioned teams failed to book a ticket for the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championship. Puerto Rico made 17-point lead until the halftime and had no troubles to keep it for rest of the game. Quarters: 14-8, 16-5, 19-6, 19-16. Aleana Leon (96) and Roxairaly Armesto scored 13 points each for the winners. Diamalises Rivera (93) followed them with 12 points and 9 rebs. In loss, Cheisy Hernandez (94) had 15 points and 5 rebs, and Yamel Abreu (95) added 10 points. Championship ends today.
