FIBA Americas U18 Championship Draw to be held on Friday - Mar 4, 2010

FIBA Americas with the collaboration from USA Basketball and San Antonio Sports will make the FIBA Americas U18 Championship Draw to be held on Friday, March 5 at 1:42 pm local time CT) at Bill Greehey Arena in San Antonio, Texas.

Also on Friday a press conference will be done where all the details of the tournament will be given to the media.

The top eight U18 national teams from the region are going to be in the event and they are: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, United States of America, Uruguay and U.S. Virgin Islands.

In the draw the teams will be drawn into couples where the first selection goes to Group A and the second to Group B to form two groups of four teams each.

The couples are: USA-Canada, Argentina-Puerto Rico, Mexico-Uruguay, Brazil- U.S. Virgin Islands.

Preliminary round play will be held June 26-28; each team plays the other three teams in its preliminary group. The top two finishing teams in each preliminary round group will then advance to the June 29, medal round semifinals and play for 1st-4th places. Teams placed third and fourth in each preliminary round group will advance to the consolation semifinals and play for 5th-8th places. The FIBA Americas U18 Championship for Men gold and bronze medal games, and the 5th/6th place and 7th/8th place games will be conducted on June 30.

The draw ceremony for the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018 took place on Tuesday evening in the Regional Offices of FIBA Americas in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
