Venezuela - Dominican Republic 89-92
Dominican Republic grabbed 92-89 win against Venezuela in Day Two of the FIBA Americas Championship. Thanks to this win Dominican Republic stays perfect in Group A sharing the first place with Brazil. Venezuela dropped to 0-2. Alfred Horford (208-F/C-86, college: Florida) once again stepped up for Dominicans. He had 19 points with just one miss for 36 minutes on the court. He also added 10 rebounds reaching valuation 35. Jack Michael Martinez (203-F/C-81, agency: Paris Global Sports) had 18 points and 14 boards, while Luis Flores (188-G-81, college: Manhattan) helped with 10 pts. In the loosing squad, Oscar Torres (195-F/G-76, agency: Interperformances) top-scored with 19 points. Greivis Vasquez (198-PG-87, college: Maryland) almost had triple-double (16 points, 10 rebounds, 9 assists), while Windi Graterol (204-C-86) had 14 points and 6 rebs. Quarters: 26-22, 23-19, 25-22, 15-29. Today, Dominican Republic will play against Canada. Venezuela will meet Cuba.

Canada - Brazil 57-69
Brazil jumped to 2-0 in Mar del Plata. They handed 69-57 loss to Canada sharing the first place in Group A with also perfect Dominican Republic. Canada has 0-1 now as it was their first appearance at this event. Marcelinho Huertas (191-PG-83, agency: Edge Sports) (191-PG-83, agency: Edge Sports) was a key player for Brazil with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. He reached valuation 24. Alex Ribeiro (191-G-80, agency: Interperformances) scored 13 points, while Marcelo Magalhaes (199-F/G-75, agency: Interperformances) and Guilherme Giovannoni (202-F-80, agency: Interperformances) helped with 12 points each. Canada did not have anyone with double-digits in scoring. Their best players was Jermaine Anderson (188-G-83, college: Fordham) with 9 points, while Aaron Doornekamp (198-F-85, agency: Interperformances) (5 rebs) and Cory Joseph (190-PG-91, college: Texas) had one less than him. Group B
Argentina - Uruguay 86-51
Argentina had no troubles to register another win in Mar del Plata. They cruised past Uruguay 86-51 for 2-0 record in Group B. Puerto Rico has the same score in this pool. It was the first appearance for Uruguay, who has 0-1 now. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) top-scored in victory with 18 points. Andres Nocioni (199-F-79) had double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Juan Gutierrez (205-F/C-83) also had 16 pts in this victory. Carlos Delfino (198-G-82) helped with 11 points and 5 boards. In Uruguay, Bruno Fitipaldo (183-G-91) delivered 11 points and was their best player. Martin Osimani (194-G-81, college: Duquesne) netted 8 pts. Quarters: 25-7, 28-12, 21-11, 12-21. Argentina will take a rest today. Uruguay will meet strong Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico - Paraguay 101-55
Another easy win for Puerto Rico. This time they blasted Paraguay 101-55 for perfect 2-0 record in Group B. On the other side, Paraguay faced with their second loss so they have 0-2 now. Alejandro Carmona (194-G/F-83) came up with 19 points for 16 minutes on the court. Jose Juan Barea (181-PG-84, college: Northeastern) had 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists, while Alexander David Galindo (198-F-85, college: FIU) and John Holland (195-G/F-88, college: Boston U.) netted 11 points each. In defeat, Guillermo Araujo (204-C-82) was better than the others with 18 points. Enrique Martinez (189-G-78, agency: Dream Team Management) and Daniel Perez (190-G/F-84) delivered 13 and 11 points respectively. Quarters: 15-10, 30-20, 30-12, 26-13. Next rival of Puerto Rico will be Uruguay. Paraguay will play against Panama also today.

The draw for the FIBA AmeriCup 2017 took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at midday on Thursday. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in the Americas on Wednesday confirmed Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay as host nations of the FIBA AmeriCup 2017, to be played from August 25 to September 3.
