Brazil - Argentina 73-71
Brazil handed Argentina its first loss of the Olympic basketball qualifying tournament for the Americas, beating the host team 73-71 behind 19 points from Rafael Hettsheimer (206-C-86). Both teams have 5-1 record now and Puerto Rico has the same numbers. All three teams, together with Dominican Republic, already booked a spot for the Semifinals. As mentioned above, Hettsheimer scored 19 points and pulled down 8 rebounds in this meeting. Marcelinho Huertas (191-PG-83, agency: Edge Sports) had 17 points, Marquinhos Vieira (207-F-84) scored 14 and Guilherme Giovannoni (202-F-80, agency: Interperformances) helped Brazilians with 13 points, plus 8 boards. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) led Argentina with 24 points and 11 rebounds, and Emanuel Ginobili (198-G-77, agency: Interperformances) had 14. Pablo Prigioni (191-G-77) added 13 points and 5 assists. Argentina won its first six games and was the last unbeaten team in the tournament before losing to Brazil (5-1).
'They played well,' Argentina coach Julio Lamas said of Brazil. 'They were fair winners. We are teams that know each other, and they guarded us very well.'
Argentina will meet Dominican Republic in the last game of the Quarterfinals Round. Brazil will play against Puerto Rico.

Dominican Republic - Puerto Rico 62-79
Great victory for Puerto Rico. Both teams had 4-1 record before this meeting and Puerto Rico cruised past Dominican Republic yesterday 79-62 for 5-1. They joined Argentina and Brazil on top. On the other side, Dominicans dropped to fourth place with 4-2, but they already booked a spot for the Semifinals. Alexander David Galindo (198-F-85, college: FIU) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds in victory. Jose Juan Barea (181-PG-84, college: Northeastern) had 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Renaldo Balkman (201-F-84, college: S.Carolina) helped with 9 pts and 6 rebs. In defeat, Alfred Horford (208-F/C-86, college: Florida) collected 16 points and 9 rebounds. Jack Michael Martinez (203-F/C-81, agency: Paris Global Sports) (9 rebs) and Ronald Ramon (185-G-86, college: Pittsburgh) delivered 12 and 11 points respectively. Quarters: 15-16, 8-13, 19-24, 20-26. Today is the last day of the Quarterfinals Round in Mar del Plata. Puerto Rico will meet Brazil, while Dominicans will take on Argentina.

Canada - Uruguay 70-68
Canada finally registered their second win in Mar del Plata. They had to work very hard to beat Uruguay 70-68 for 2-4 record. Canadians joined Venezuela now on the fifth place. Uruguay dropped to 1-5. Levon Kendall (209-F-84, college: Pittsburgh) shined for the winners with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Andrew Rautins (193-PG-86, college: Syracuse) scored 15 points and Denham Brown (198-F-83, agency: Edge Sports, college: Connecticut) helped with 9 pts, plus 6 boards. In the loosing squad, Leandro Garcia Morales (186-G-80, college: Texas A&M) responded with 19 points. Martin Osimani (194-G-81, college: Duquesne) (5 rebs) and Gustavo Barrera (194-G-85) netted 17 and 12 points respectively. Quarters: 19-17, 22-10, 15-22, 14-19. Canada will meet Panama today. Uruguay will take on Venezuela.

Venezuela - Panama 110-74
Second win for Venezuela in Mar del Plata. They smashed Panama 110-74 and now share the fifth place with Canada. Panama faced with the sixth straight loss. Greivis Vasquez (198-PG-87, college: Maryland) was the leading player in victory with 24 points and 8 assists. Oscar Torres (195-F/G-76, agency: Interperformances) had 16 points, David Cubillan (183-PG-87, college: Marquette) had 14 points and 5 assists, while Axiers Sucre (198-F-78) added 13 pts, plus 6 boards. In defeat, Josimar Ayarza (205-F-87) exploded with 30 points and 6 rebounds. Their second scorer was Ruben Garces (206-C/F-73, agency: Priority Sports, college: Providence) with 14 points (7 rebs). Quarters: 29-23, 21-9, 30-19, 30-23. Venezuela will play against Uruguay today. Panama's rival will be Canada.

Venezuela clinch historic title in Mexico City - 2 Years ago
FINAL Venezuela - Argentina 76-71 Venezuela wrapped up their impressive Fiba Americas Championship rally with the victory over Argentina in the Final. Heissler Guillent (186-PG-86, agency: Enlace Deportivo) delivered 15 points to lead Venezuela to the historic first ever Fiba Americas title. Argentina posted a 20:13 lead after the opening frame. Argentina and Venezuela advance into Final in Mexico City - 2 Years ago
Argentina - Mexico 78-70 Argentina topped Mexico to advance into the Fiba Americas championship. The victory also booked the Olympic Games birth for the winners. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80, agency: AAI Sports) posted 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side. Mexico built a 40:35 halftime lead.
