Brazil - Panama 72-89
Panama outgunned Brazil to seal their Second Stage appearance. Trevor Gaskins (188-G-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Lat Am Basketball) delivered 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists to pace the winners. Brazil enjoyed a 26:22 lead ten minutes into the game. But Panama turned things around in the next periods. They tied things up at 39 heading into the second half. Panama went on a strong 50:33 second half rally to ice the win. Michael Hicks (195-G/F-83, college: Central Mo., agency: Court Side) delivered 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Vitor Benite (191-SG-90, agency: Interperformances) responded with 21 points for Brazil.

Mexico - Uruguay 78-63
Mexico defeated Uruguay to gain the fourth straight victory at the tournament. Gustavo Ayon (207-C/F-85, college: San Jose St., agency: Duran International) finished with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists to pace the winners. Uruguay eked out a 16:14 lead after the opening frame. Mexico however spurred ahead for a 38:27 halftime lead. Mexico held Uruguay to 36 points in the second half and marched to the victory. Hector Hernandez (205-PF-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) delivered 17 points for the winners. Mauricio Aguiar (197-F-83, agency: Pro Sports) responded with 15 points for Uruguay.

Group B
Puerto Rico - Canada 92-112
Canada fired past Puerto Rico to post the third consecutive victory at the tournament. Six players scored in double digits for the North American team. Andrew Wiggins (203-G-95, college: Kansas, agency: BDA Sports) came up with 19 points to pace the effort. Canada eked out a 46:44 halftime lead. They triggered a massive 35:16 run in the third term to clear off for good. Puerto Rico fired 32 points in the fourth period but just sweetened the pill at the end. Nik Stauskas (198-SG-93, college: Michigan, agency: Priority Sports) and Kelly Olynyk (213-PF-91, college: Gonzaga, agency: Wasserman Media) accounted for 15 points each for Canada. Jose Juan Barea (183-PG-84, college: Northeastern, agency: Relativity Sports) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for Puerto Rico.

Venezuela - Argentina 68-77
Argentina remained perfect at the FIBA Americas tournament. They knocked down Venezuela for 4-0 record in Group B. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80, agency: AAI Sports) scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace the winners. Venezuela recorded a 28:27 halftime lead. But Argentina unleashed 50 points in the second half and clinched the top position in the group. Andres Nocioni (202-SF-79, agency: AAI Sports) tossed in 21 points and collected 9 boards for Argentina. Gregory Vargas (180-PG-86, agency: Pro Sports) responded with 21 points for Venezuela.

The draw for the FIBA AmeriCup 2017 took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at midday on Thursday. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in the Americas on Wednesday confirmed Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay as host nations of the FIBA AmeriCup 2017, to be played from August 25 to September 3.
