Venezuela - Mexico 70-73
Venezuela kept their record perfect at the Fiba Americas Championship. They knocked down Venezuela to improve at 5-0 at the Second Stage standings. Jorge Gutierrez (190-G-88, college: California, agency: Wasserman Media) notched 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the winners. Venezuela accounted for a 37:28 halftime lead. But Mexico cut the deficit in the third term. The hosts used a 22:13 rally in the fourth period to get away with the victory. Gustavo Ayon (207-C/F-85, college: San Jose St., agency: Duran International) notched 14 points and 11 rebounds for the home team. John Cox (194-G-81, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 22 points for Venezuela.

Uruguay - Canada 82-109
Canada cruised past Uruguay for the fifth straight victory in Mexico City. Seven players scored in double digits for the winners. Andrew Wiggins (203-G-95, college: Kansas, agency: BDA Sports) finished with 18 points to topscore for Canada. The North American team secured a 29:22 lead ten minutes into the game. They followed with a massive 28:10 run in the second period to ensure a 25-point halftime lead. The margin grew at 34-point mark at the final intermission. Uruguay just sweetened the pill at the end scoring 30 points in the fourth quarter. Nik Stauskas (198-SG-93, college: Michigan, agency: Priority Sports) delivered 14 points for Canada. Nicolas Borsellino (202-F-86, agency: Pro Sports) responded with 15 points for Uruguay.

Puerto Rico - Dominican Republic 98-92
Puerto Rico outgunned Dominican Republic to improve at 1-4 record at the Second Stage of the tournament. Jose Juan Barea (183-PG-84, college: Northeastern, agency: Relativity Sports) recorded 37 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds to lead the winners. Puerto Rico opened a 47:34 halftime lead. Dominican Republic stepped on the gas in the second half. They unloaded 58 points in the second part of the game but could not avoid the defeat. Ramon Clemente (200-PF-85, college: Wichita St., agency: Championship Sports) delivered 15 points for the winners. Francisco Garcia (201-F/G-81, college: Louisville, agency: Goodwin Mngm) responded with 25 points for Dominican Republic.

Panama - Argentina 57-84
Argentina stayed perfect at the Fiba Americas Championship. They outgunned Panama for 5-0 record. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80, agency: AAI Sports) posted 16 points to lead the winners. Argentina opened a 34:26 halftime lead. They followed with a strong 25:10 run in the third term to clear off. Argentina knocked down 25 points in the fourth quarter to seal the victory. Andres Nocioni (202-SF-79, agency: AAI Sports) finished with 10 points for the winners. Michael Hicks (196-F-76, college: Texas A&M-CC, agency: Agency) responded with 15 points for Panama.

The draw for the FIBA AmeriCup 2017 took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at midday on Thursday. The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in the Americas on Wednesday confirmed Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay as host nations of the FIBA AmeriCup 2017, to be played from August 25 to September 3.
