Bernie Diaz
Center Bernie Diaz (200-C-81) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked ELOHIM, receiving a Latinbasket.com Liga Metropolitana Player of the Week award for round 4.
The 36-year old player was the main contributor (25 points, six rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Villa Nueva (#4, 3-1) with 42-point margin 89-47. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed ELOHIM to take over top position in the Guatemalan Liga Metropolitana. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but ELOHIM already had a very good start winning all 4 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Diaz had a remarkable 80.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be ELOHIM's top player in his first season with the team. Bernie Diaz has solid league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 24.0ppg. Diaz is in league's top in rebounds (9th best: 8.0rpg) and averages impressive 3.0spg,75.0% FGP and 80.0% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was -year old Erick Palma of Tencored. Palma had a very good evening with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Of course Tencored cruised to a 70-58 relatively comfortable win over URL (#10, 0-4). This victory allowed Tencored to move up to 7th position in the standings. 3 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Tencored managed to get this year. Palma is a newcomer at Tencored, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was another ELOHIM's star - former international forward Oscar Salguero (198-F/C-87). Salguero scored 22 points and grabbed twelve rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of ELOHIM, helping his team with a 89-47 easy win against #4 ranked Villa Nueva in a game of the week. ELOHIM started extremely well this year. They recorded 4 victories without losing a single game. Salguero turns to be one of the very best players in the league while he is also a leader of the top team having his eyes on the championship title. Salguero has a great season in Guatemala. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.0ppg (2nd best) and rebounds with 10.0rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Eustorgio Sopalda (81) of Tencored - 24 points and 7 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
