AS Apollon Patras strengthened their roster with addition of 29-year old Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-F-83, college: Fair Dickinson). Klaiber played most recently at Iwate Big Bulls (Japan). While playing 32 games for Iwate Big Bulls last season he averaged 13.5ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.2apg and 1.8spg. He is a very experienced player. Klaiber played also pro basketball in Argentina, Hungary and Venezuela. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2006 and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball.

the National Community Basketball League (NCBL) is expected to be completed in January of the New Year due to some challenges faced by the organisers.
The tournament which is at its semi-final stage went dormant when the Linden protests began earlier in the year.

The tournament which is at its semi-final stage went dormant when the Linden protests began earlier in the year. After the uprising which stalled the Linden teams from coming to Georgetown to play in the semifinal, the organisers faced venue problems to conclude the tournament. However, co-tournament organiser Bobby Cadogan issued that the tournament is at a stage where it needs to be concluded. The NCBL is at a stage where it needs to be completed and we are looking to complete it in January, Cadogan told Guyana Times Sport. Cadogan also pointed out that while the tournament is facing challenges, they are looking to complete it and come bigger in 2013.

Action between DC Jammmers and the Guyana National team at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Saturday night Guyana almost won but blew it in the final seconds when three attempted jumpers from beyond the arc failed to find the bottom of the net. As a result, D.C Jammers won 65-62. For D.C Jammers, Glenn Stokes (170-PG-76, agency: R.H.Consultancy, college: American) had 20 points, Joseph Flegler (183-G-85, college: Savannah St.) 12, and Gordon Klaiber (206-F-83, college: Fair Dickinson) and Steffon Farley (203-F, college: Adelphi) added eight points apiece. For Guyana, forward Ryan Gullen (C) top scored with 14 points; point guard, Travis Burnett (183-88) scored 13, shooting guard, Stephan Gillis 12 and Akeem Kanhai (183-G-91) 10 points. The first period ended 12-7 with Guyana comfortably in command and D.C Jammers struggling offensively. However, the Jammers went on a 13-3 run with Flegler and Klaiber working together in transition to give them a 20-15 lead midway through the period. But Guyana, fought back into the game with Kanhai and Gullen finishing unanswered plays to regain the lead. The first half 28-24 with Guyana ahead; both teams traded points in the third period with Keron McKenzie (193-G-86, college: Armstr.Atlantic) dishing a pass to Klaiber for more highlights. Guyana managed to hold on to a 44-44 deadlock at the end of the penultimate quarter. Guyana went up early in the last period, but a double-technical call against them returned some momentum to the D.C Jammers, who took advantage. Stokes landed two big three-pointers that set Jammers off on a run. With 1:23 left to play in regulation time, Guyana was then gifted with three possessions that Gillis and Kanhai both squandered. Earlier in the night, the National Community Basketball League (NCBL) All-Stars blew away the Brooklyn/Queens Bulldogs 92-47. Fabian Johnson scored 17 points for the NCBL All-Stars while Jason Squires added 14 points. Dominique Douglas, Nikkoloi Smith and Rodwell Fortune supported with 10 points each for the NCBL All-Stars. Marlon Thornton scored 19 points for the Brooklyn/Queens Bulldogs with Ashford Johnson adding nine points.
