CBC Under-16 tournament Pool Draw, host Guyana males in group A, females in group B - May 6, 2016

CBC Pool Draw held at the Cara Lodge Suites Hotel, President of the Caribbean Basketball Confederation CBC Glyne Clarke and Vice - President Finance and Marketing Patrick Haynes conducted the draw in the presence of host President of the Guyana Amateur Basketball Federation GABF Nigel Hinds. In brief remarks Glyne Clarke said Guyana is afforded the opportunity to select the pool they preferred before the final country is drawn, being the host country. Clarke remarked too, that discussion with the government of Guyana and the local basketball federation were fruitful and augurs well for the development of youths and the improvement of the facilities. Kudos were also in order for the media coverage given to the visit and he encouraged the same for the coverage of the tournament.
Two Pools, A and B. British Virgin Island, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominican republic and Antigua formed pool A, Guyana selected to join pool B along with Aruba, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica to complete the ten team drawn in the male category.
In the female category, seven teams will compete in the championships, Guyana selected pool A, which also consist of Antigua, Barbados and British Virgin Island. Pool B three teams to complete the seven teams are Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname. Host President, Nigel Hinds, expressed his satisfaction with the process which he described as easier than he envisaged and transparent. Hinds again repeated Guyana's pleasure to host the 2016 edition of the CBC youth championships and is hopeful that at the least Guyana can make it to the semi-finals and eventually win one or both of the categories at the finals. The championships is scheduled to commence in Guyana July 4th to 9th for the males and 12th to 16th for the females. The main venue is the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall CASH on Homestretch Avenue and an alternative venue the Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue a short distance away.

Now, come this Saturday, Ravens who won the inaugural 'Road to Mecca', will be looking to dethrone Colts who have their sights set on clinching a historic '3-peat'. Road to Mecca V at Cash Bounty Colts win five straight to qualify for semifinal - 1 month ago
Colts were in their usual devastating form on Sunday night and Berbice's lone representative in the championship, Canje Knights, were not spared as they received a thumping in the match that finished 99-45.
