Jamaica open the tournament with the win over Costa Rica. The Jamaican side celebrated 91:61 victory at the 2012 Centrobasket in Puerto Rico.
Jamaica scored the first 15 points in the game and enjoyed 20:5 lead after the first 10 minutes. Moreover they added 19-16 in the second frame and had 18-point advantage at the halftime. In the third period Jamaica produced a 22-16 surge and increased to 61:37 after three quarters. Rose gave Jamaica the biggest led in the game, 84:53 as it was clear about the winner. Jamaica added 30-24 in the last stanza and sealed the victory in the opener.
Oritseweyinmi Efejuku paced all the winners with 18 points and Howell Dylan netted 16. Anthony Samuels (191-G) posted 14, while Akeem Scott (186-PG-83, agency: Interperformances, college: High Point) and Kimany Ffriend (211-C-77, agency: Court Side, college: Nebraska) Kimani delivered 11 points each. Clifford Smith (193-G-80, college: Barry) ended up with 17 points in defeat and Carlos Quesada (198-C-85) notched 11.

RYAN REID St. John's Edge (NBL Canada) tabbed 31-year old Jamaican ex-international power forward Ryan Reid (204-107kg-86, college: Florida State). He played most recently at Shimane Susanoo Magic in Japanese B2 League. In 63 games he averaged 8.2ppg, 6.4rpg and 1.2apg last season.
