Jamaican-American power forward Adrian Uter (200-F/C-84, agency: Gross Zeev ISA, college: Hofstra) recorded probably the best month in his pro career so far as he was named Player of the Month in Israeli Winner League.
Uter is in his second season at Maccabi Rishon Le-Zion and fifth year in Israeli league. That's mostly thanks to his great performance Maccabi Rishon started as biggest surprise of the season winning all 3 games so far.
Especially important was the last victory over league powerhouse Maccabi Tel-Aviv, where the team from Rishon outclassed rivals from Tel-Aviv 81-64 (!!!).
Uter lead his team with 22 points and 9 rebounds. He averages so far 20.7 ppg (second best in the league), 10.3 rpg (4th best) and leads the league in the number of blocks with 3.0 bpg average.
Coach Effi Birnbaum (agency: Avi Zilberman ) has a very solid team, which proved to be one (if not the main ) contender for the title.
Uter is definitely team's strongerst point. But Maccabi can laso count on their American trio: Julian Wright (203-F-87, college: Kansas), Willie Warren (193-PG-89, agency: Interperformances, college: Oklahoma) and Lazeric Jones (182-PG-90, college: UCLA). The starting five is completed with Israeli international guard Nitzan Hanochi (194-SG-86, agency: Ronsport).
Splendid beginning of the season for Maccabi Rishon. They look forward to November 11th game against the only other undefeated team in the league - Greentops Netanya.
Uter is a perfect sample of well-balanced career. He does not come from top college and was not a superstar at his university. But had enough potential to make it to pro basketball. Maybe not on NBA level, but his skills were perfect match for playing overseas. He started from low-ranked leagues like Austria and Portugal. Then after his skills adjusted to basketball overseas, Uter made it up to second divisions in France and Israel. Finally he made it all the way to one of the strongest leagues in Europe - Israeli Winner League and becoming the most solid player of the league's best team. It's a pity that too many players with great skills are not matched properly to the leagues/teams and instead of developing their pro career, they end it too early being pushed on a bench in too-strong team or signing in a country which no one considers serious enough.
