Etoile du Sahel (Division I) agreed terms with 32-year old Jamaican ex-international guard Andre Smith (188-80, college: NC-Asheville). He already started the season at Hoops in Lebanese Division A. Part of last season Smith spent at Jahesh Tarabar in Iranian Superleague. He also played at Widad Safrou AC de Casablanca in Moroccan D1 earlier that season.
The previous (10-11) season Smith played at Pouya in Superleague.
His team made it to the Syrian League Semifinals in 2010.
Smith was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Central American and Caribbean Games Honorable Mention in 2010. He represented Jamaica at the CBC Championships in Nassau (Bahamas) last year. Smiths team won Bronze and his stats at that event were 5 games: 6.2ppg, 2.2rpg, 1.4apg, 1.6spg, FGP: 33.3%, 3PT: 23.1%, FT: 20.0%.
Smith already played few games for ES Sahel. In the last victory 49-44 against Egyptian Al Ahly in African Champions Cup, he scored 22 points, which is almost half of the all team points. He also added 6 rebounds.
Smith is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Argentina (Wuber-Est.Bahia and Lanus), Lithuania (Naglis Palangos), Mexico (Lobos Grises), Venezuela (Guaros) and Syria (Al Wahda).
Smith attended University of North Carolina - Asheville until 2003 and it will be his tenth season as a professional player.

This week's number one is an experienced former international guard Akeem Scott (185-83). Scott could not help Universidad de Concepcion (20-10) in their last game. Neptunas waive Johnson - 11 days ago
Neptunas Klaipeda (LKL) waived 28-year old American (has also Jamaican passport) forward Omari Johnson (206-104kg-89, college: Oregon State). In 12 LKL games he recorded 8.1ppg and 4.8rpg this season. He played 11 games in Basketball Champions League where he averaged 8.3ppg and 5.6rpg. Johnson ended the last season at the Trail Blazers in NBA. But the most of that year he spent at another team Maine Red Claws in U.S. semi-pro league D-League.
