Sherman Gay
KTP Basket Kotka (Korisliiga) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 34-year old American (has also Jamaican passport) power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary). He played last season at Vichy Clermont in French ProB. In 6 games he recorded 7.8ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.0spg. Gay also played that season for Salon Vilpas where in 16 Korisliiga games he averaged impressive 15.6ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.1spg and 1.0bpg.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team made it to the French ProB Semifinals for two years in a row (2011 and 2012). Gay was also voted Eurobasket.com All-French ProB Honorable Mention in 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
He is quite experienced player. Gay has played also professionally in Hungary (Zalakeramia-ZTE KK), Italy and D-League (Roanoke D.).
He attended Loyola Marymount University until 2004 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) (!!!) season as a professional player.
The scouts decsribe him following way: Has the size of a 3 forward and the skills of a 4. Is finding his role in European leagues, where he can play stably at PF.
NBA Coach Larry Brown of the Charlotte Bobcats said:
"The biggest thing when you're building a team and you don't necessarily have the depth of the more established teams, you've got to find guys that can play more than one position," Brown said. " I think the more guys that can be in that kind of situation the more flexibility you have."
