The Appeals Committee has granted the appeal of Granville Jaguars to have their suspension from all basketball activities for one year rescinded. After thorough review of the circumstances involved, the Appeals Committee believed that while the Granville Jaguars Basketball Club did in fact breach the rules which govern the sport of basketball, the penalties seemed excessive. Recommendations were made to the Western Basketball Association and collectively, it was agreed that the appeal would be granted and the sanctions amended as follows:
The WBA will downgrade the ban from one (1) year to one (1) year probation. Probation is interpreted as team forfeiting a game either prior to game, during game or after game. Should the team violate the condition, the one year ban will come into effect immediately.
Players currently registered to the team will not be able to transfer to another team until the 2018 season.
Club will be eligible to participate in the 2017 EBL season, but no competitions for the rest of 2016.
The U21 student athletes Daniel Henry, David Peck and Ralique Grant will be allowed back into the EBL.
The club was previously fined Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00), this has being withdrawn.
Granville Jaguars will forfeit the prize money.
Dave Black will receive a three (3) game suspension at the start of 2017 Elite Basketball League (EBL). His fine of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) is reduced to half.
Ryan Harrison will receive a two (2) game suspension at the start of the Elite Basketball League for bringing game into disrepute.
