Herbert Morrison on top in Western Conference U-19 basketball - Dec 2, 2016

Defending champions Herbert Morrison secured the top spot in the ISSA/Western Conference Under-19 boys' basketball competition after beating William Knibb Memorial by 78 points, 104-26, in Montego Bay on Tuesday, chalking up their sixth consecutive win. Three players led by Brendan Dawkins' triple double, scored in double figures for Herbert Morrison, who were scoring over 100 points in a game for the fourth time this season. With Cornwall College expected to forfeit their game against Herbert Morrison today, the champions are on 14 points from seven games, one more than Cornwall College on 13; Muschett are next on 12 followed by William Knibb on eight. Herbert Morrison's Under-16 team also remained perfect with a 53-33 win over Muschett High to be tied for the lead with the losers on eight points each.
In the Under-19 game, Dawkins scored 24 points, 11 steals and 10 assists, Shaqueal Benti had a game-high 30 points and 11 assists, while Tafari Vassell scored 17 points and had 11 rebounds for Herbert Morrison, as they steamrolled the Trelawny school, leading 25-4, 42-11 and 66-22 at the end of the intervals. National Under-16 player David Gordon had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds, Rashaun Thompson scored 10 points, while Ryheem Barrett had nine points and eight rebounds for Herbert Morrison who led 17-3, 27-17 and 36-19 on their way to win number four. Michael Thompson had a game-high 21 points for Muschett along with 10 rebounds, while Warren Brooks scored nine points.
