Cornwall College suffered a double loss as they started the all-island ISSA basketball play-offs on Monday, going down to St Elizabeth Technical High (STETHS) and Manchester High respectively, in the Under-16 and Under-19 sections at the Montego Bay Cricket Club. Cornwall College, who were runners-up in both sections of the Western Conference last season, lost 42-51 to Central champions STETHS in the Under-16 game and 40-69 to Manchester High in the Under-19 section. Peter-Rae Martin led STETHS with 37 points and 12 rebounds, as the Santa Cruz based-school extended their lead from one point at the end of the first quarter to 15 at half-time. STETHS were up 14-13 after the first quarter, but then outscored Cornwall College 20-6 in the second to lead 34-19, and despite a brief rally by the Montego Bay-based school in the second half, held on to win by nine points. Jowayne Jones scored 16 points for Cornwall College, while Omar Campbell scored 13 points and had nine rebounds. In the senior game, Manchester High led all the way and increased their lead with each quarter to win by 29 points, despite a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds from Cornwall College's Giovanni Bailey. Manchester led 16-9, 31-22 and 47-29 at the end of the three quarters. Cleon Daley scored 16 points for Manchester High, as well as nine rebounds and six steals, while Rajae Graham scored 15 points.
