Metros got to a strong start to their Liga Americas campaign. They knocked down Los Leones in Santiago in Group A opening game for both sides. Adris De Leon (180-PG-84, college: E.Washington) finished with 19 points to lead the Dominican Republic team. Metros held the hosts to just 26 points in the first half to gain a 7-point lead. Metros followed with a 37:31 second half rally to seal the victory. Kelvin Pena (193-G-80, college: Southeastern CC) accounted for 12 points for the winners. Stanley Robinson (206-F-88, college: Connecticut, agency: HMS) responded with 23 points and 9 rebounds for Los Leones.

Mogi das Cruzes fired past Malvin in the Liga Americas opener. The Brazilian team used a strong 32:13 rally in the third period to clear off for good. Shamell Stallworth (195-SG-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) provided 25 points to lead the winners. Gerson Santo (206-F-91, college: Colorado St.) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Kennedy Winston (199-F-84, college: Alabama) responded with 19 points for Malvin.
