Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Even though they still have to fill 3 roster spots for foreign players and have another 2 key Venezuelan players active overseas with other teams, Cocodrilos de Caracas, the current title holder of Venezuela's LPB, is getting ready for the upcoming Liga de las Americas FIBA 2017, in which they'll play in Group D against Academia de la Montana (Colombia), Weber Bahia Basket (Argentina) and the hosts, Leones de Ponce (Puerto Rico) in Ponce, Puerto Rico, February 10th-12th.

Head coach Nestor Salazar, with the help of assistant coaches Nelson Solorzano , Jose Dos Santos and Gustavo Maza , is already working at Cocodrilos Sports Park in Caracas with a group that is still missing 3 foreign players and Venezuelans Lenin Lopez (198-F-91) and Jovanni Diaz (195-G-92), who are currently playing in Chile.

Salazar is coaching the team for a 12th consecutive season. His roster includes Yochuar Palacios (196-F-85), Angel Blanco (97), Moises Teixeira (180-PG-92), Cesar Garcia (193-G/F-90, agency: Pro Sports), Nelson Palacios (196-SF-92), Jose Rodriguez, Kelvin Caraballo (195-F-88) and rookies Aaron Espinoza (96), Asa Acosta (G), Jesus Armas, Rances Valdez, Alvaro Rodriguez (190-G-99), Jenderson Rondon, Melvin Zambrano, Endry Salcedo, Evert Bernal, Dani Arias, Gabriel Diaz, Teobaldo Marcano, Carlos Lopez, Christopher Guerrero and Gilberto Hernandez.

The absence of Lopez and Diaz will be solved through talks with the general management of their current team in Chile, Puente Alto, according to GM Rostin Gonzalez.

FINAL San Lorenzo - Mogi 79-71 San Lorenzo celebrated Liga Americas title. They beat Mogi das Cruzes in the championship game. It looked good early as Mogi took a 5-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then San Lorenzo had a 20-13 second period charge getting the lead and Mogi was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-79. San Lorenzo and Mogi das Cruzes will clash for Liga Americas title in Buenos Aires tonight. They claimed victories in the respective semifinals on Saturday. San Lorenzo cruised past Estudiantes Concordia 101:78. Gabriel Deck (199-F-95) stepped up with 30 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort. San Lorenzo built a 42:34 halftime lead.
