Quimsa - Inacap 91-68 Quimsa victoriously entered the new Liga Sudamericana season. The Argentinean side toppled Inacap of Chile in Group B opener for both teams. Cleotis Brown (198-G/F-77, agency: Dream Team Management, college: Illinois) scored 21 points to pace the charge. Quimsa opened the game strongly. Diego Lo Grippo (198-F-78) scored 8 points helping Quimsa to a 23:15 lead at the first break. Quimsa continued to stay aggressive in the second period. They arrived at halftime up by 16 points 47:31. Inacap relied on Claudio Naranjo (191-F-87) and Samuel Villegas (198-G/F-83, college: Toledo) scoring in the third term to narrow the deficit. Inacap trailed by 10 points at the final break 55:65. Quimsa however silenced their opponents with an 8:0 run to open the final term. The Argentineans cruised to the victory then. Jonathan Treise (182-G-85) scored 17 points for Quimsa. Diego Lo Grippo added 14 points in the winning effort. Claudio Naranjo nailed 20 points for Inacap. Samuel Villegas contributed 19 points in the loss.
Flamengo - Malvin 94-92 Flamengo opened their Liga Sudamericana campaign with a tough win. The Brazilian team held off Malvin in thriller. Fred Santos (180-G-80) and Helio Vitor Lima (184-G-81) helped Flamengo escape with a narrow victory at the end. Flamengo stormed into the game. They exploded with 32 points in the opening quarter taking a 15-point lead. Malvin stopped the rot in the second term. The Uruguayans narrowed the gap at 11-point mark at halftime. Eduardo Machado suffered an injury in the third period. Flamengos offense got hurt with the loss of one of their key players. They scored 18 points in the third term but conceded 31 as Malvin pulled in front. Marcelinho Machado (199-F/G-75, agency: Interperformances) brought Flamengo right back into this one in the final quarter. Helio Vitor Lima gave the Brazilians a 94:90 lead with 18 seconds to go. Christopher Lee cut the margin to just two points but Atila Dos Santos missed two free throws but Marcelinho Machado grabbed an offensive rebound and Flamengo hung on to win the game. Marcelinho Machado knocked down 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the effort. Guilherme Teichmann (204-F/C-83, college: Tulsa) added 14 points in the victory. Fernando Martinez (170-G-79) answered with 23 points and 7 assists for Malvin. Reque Newsome (204-C-81, college: S.Indiana) had 18 points in defeat.

Regatas C. - Flamengo 81-82 Regatas Corrientes have become the Liga Sudamericana champions. They clinched the crown despite the loss to Flamengo in the final game of the tournament. But Regatas stayed in charge as they posted a 20:18 lead after the starting quarter. The teams traded baskets throughout the second frame. Regatas accounted for a 37:35 halftime lead. Flamengo stepped on the gas in the third quarter. The Rio de Janeiro team surged ahead for a 61:58 advantage at the final break. Flamengo extended the margin to 8 points in the fourth frame but Regatas did not allow their opponents to get any further away. The hosts stopped the bleeding and secured the needed result at the end. Vitor Benite (190-F/G-90) provided 21 points for Flamengo. Shilton Santos added 15 points for the winners. Javier Martinez (189-G/F-78, agency: Dream Team Management) answered with 20 points for Regatas. Meyinsse netted 18 points in the loss.
Brasilia - Penarol 87-77 Uniceub/BRB finished their Liga Sudamericana campaign on a high. Welington Dos Santos (185-PG-81) fired 32 points to pace the Brazilian team past Penarol. Uniceub/BRB finished in the second place just behind the new champions Regatas Corrientes. Uniceub/BRB strongly started the game. They unloaded 32 points in the opening frame to take a 12-point lead. Penarol slowed their opponents down in the second quarter. The Argentinean team got within 11 points at the interval. Brasilia regained control in the third quarter. They arrived at the final break up by 12 points. Penarol outscored Brasilia 14:12 in the fourth frame but just sweetened the pill at the end. Alex Ribeiro (191-G-80, agency: Interperformances) provided 18 points, while Arthur Silva contributed 10 points for the winners. Facundo Campazzo (179-PG-91) answered with 28 points for Penarol. Thomas Terrell chipped in 12 points in the loss.
