Quimsa celebrate Liga Sudamericana title

Quimsa- Libertad Sunchales 87:77
Quimsa became the new Liga Sudamericana champions. They held off
Libertad Sunchales in the decisive game. Quimsa qualified to the FIBA
Americas League to be held in December.
Julio Mazzaro (190-G-79) knocked down 29 points and grabbed 6
rebounds to lead the hosting team to the historic success.
Quimsa and Libertad Sunchales traded baskets throughout the opening
frame. The scoreboard read 20:20 after ten minutes of action. Quimsa and
Libertad stiffened their defense in the second quarter. Quimsa limited
their opponents to just 8 points and earned a 4-point lead at halftime.
The hosts stepped on the gas right after the main break. They exploded
with 25 points to stretch the margin at 12-point mark. A high-scoring
fourth frame saw Libertad pour in 32 points but it did not rescue the
team. Quimsa matched the effort going for 30 points and claiming a
confident win at the end.
Jonathan Treise (182-G-85) scored 21 points and issued 5 assists for
(211-C-78) added 16 points and 9 boards for the champions.
Cleotis Brown (198-G/F-77, college:
Illinois) answered with 17 points for Libertad.
(198-F-77) had 15 points in the loss.
