Guerreros
win CIMEBA, but....
As it was expected,
Guerreros de Morelos-Chilpancingo won the CIMEBA 2007 Final Series 4-1, but
we don' t know if we can call this series the "CIMEBA Finals". In fact, the
Guerreros opponent was NOT Caudillos de Morelos, but Titanes de Queretaro. It
happened that Caudillos decided to pull themselves out from the league, after
that the CIMEBA council did not take any decision over the dispute between
Titanes and Caudillos about their semifinal series. The consequence was a
self-managed Final, a bad end of a worse run league, that has become a parody of
itself. If CIMEBA officials really plan to come back in 2008, we warmly hope
that they will be able to make something different......

CIMEBA 2005 Cancelled - Jul 22,
2005
The 2005 season for the Circuito
Mexicano de Baloncesto (CIMEBA) has been oficially cancelled. Mexico's
oldest basketball professional league has been under severe economic and
organizational problems in the past couple of seasons. A lot has to do with
the creation of the LNBP in 2000, as it has taken over as Mexico's premier
baskeball league and players prefer to play at the LNBP (LIGA NACIONAL DE
BALONCESTO PROFESIONAL). This also solidifies CIBACOPA (Cicuito de
Basquetbol de la Costa del Pacifico) as Mexico's second best league.
CIBACOPA was created in 2001, and it is played in the states of Sonora and
Sinaloa. CIBACOPA will soon announce its plans for the 2006 season, which
may include expansion to new cities and/or states.
