RAYOS DE HERMOSILLO CHAMPION 2012 - Jun 21, 2012

Rayos de Hermosillo before a sold out crowd defeated Ostioneros de Guaymas in Game 7 of the CIBACOPA finals 71-67 and capture its first ever CIBACOPA championship. It was a close game throughout, with Guaymas entering the 4th quarter up 2 points. This was reflective of the entire series which saw 2 games go to overtime and most games decided by 3 points or less. This was a remarkable accomplishment by head coach Dan Tacheny as the team played the entire series without its starting Center Jesus Lopez (205-F-83, college: SW Baptist) who reported to the National team and without a point guard as the team lost its starting point guard Steve Monreal (180-PG-86, college: CS Monterey) and backup Jesus Coronado (185-PG-88) both to season ending injuries. Congratulations to Hermosillo's fans, front office and the entire team for culminating a sensational regular season with the cherry on top.

The North rallies at the end to defeat the South All-Stars - Apr 27, 2012

The All-Star game for the CIBACOPA was played out on Sunday afternoon as the North Zone faced off with the South. A close game that saw the South winning for most of the game had the North come back in the 4th quarter (35-22) to win the game 121-111. O'Louis McCullough (198-G/F-82, college: Francis Marion) had 39, Darnell Hugee (201-F-85, college: Prairie View A&M) 21, and Emmanuel Little (196-F-85, college: N.Dakota) with 13 points for the winner. For the South, Deangelo Riley (205-C, college: Azusa Pacific) came up with 22, Ronald Selleaze (197-F-76, agency: Dream Team Management, college: CSU Bakersfield) and Rodrigo Zamora (206-C-86, college: Montana St.) with 17 each.

The Slam Dunk contest saw Derek Thomas (193-F-84, college: Appalachian St.) and Darnell Hugee with a tie. While the three point shooting contest had Luis Lopez (186-G) take the title. Congratulations to all the participants!
