The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds.

The most important game in the last round took place in Los Mochis between second ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (24-8) and seventh ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (15-17) on Saturday night. Ostioneros de Guaymas were defeated by Pioneros Los Mochis in a tough game on the road 85-94. Ostioneros de Guaymas trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 23-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 85-94 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Ostioneros de Guaymas 42-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Devon Pearson (198-F-84, college: SMU) scored 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Seth Scott (208-81, college: Portland St.) chipped in 27 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Pioneros Los Mochis maintains seventh position with 15-17 record. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side keep the second place with eight games lost. Pioneros Los Mochis are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Coras de Tepic (#10) at home in the next round. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against Frayles de Guasave (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (28-4) added another victory to their record. This time they beat tenth ranked Coras de Tepic (2-30) 101-95. American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Steve Monreal supported him with 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even a triple-double of 33 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 10 assists by American center Deangelo Riley (205, college: Azusa Pacific) did not help to save the game for Coras de Tepic. Rayos de Hermosillo have an impressive 18-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 28-4 record. Coras de Tepic lost ninth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 30 lost games. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Garra Canera de Navolato (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Coras de Tepic will play against Pioneros Los Mochis and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Ninth-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (10-22) gave a tough game to sixth ranked Frayles de Guasave (17-15) on Saturday. Frayles de Guasave managed to secure only one-point victory 94-93. However their fans expected easier game. Hiram Fuller fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Frayles de Guasave's coach Jose Dilone used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Rene Rougeau produced 19 points and 4 assists for lost side. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to fourth place. Loser Caballeros de Culiacan dropped to the eighth position with 22 games lost. They share it with Navolato. Frayles de Guasave will meet league's second-placed Ostioneros de Guaymas on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Caballeros de Culiacan will play against Fuerza Guinda Nogales (#5) and hope to secure a win.
Fourth ranked Fuerza Guinda Nogales (16-16) beat at home 5th ranked Mineros de Cananea (16-16) by 15 points 105-90, which is the biggest margin this round. Fuerza Guinda Nogales have an impressive five-game winning streak. Despite that victory Fuerza Guinda Nogales went down to fifth position due to points difference, which they share with Cananea. Mineros de Cananea lost third consecutive game. Fuerza Guinda Nogales' next round opponent will be Caballeros de Culiacan (#9) on the road. Mineros de Cananea will play against Tijuana Zonkeys (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 34 Navolato lost to Tijuana on the opponent's court 62-71.


Guasave - Culiacan 94-93
Ninth-ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (10-22) gave a tough game to sixth ranked Frayles de Guasave (17-15) on Saturday. Frayles de Guasave managed to secure only one-point victory 94-93. However their fans expected easier game. Caballeros de Culiacan was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Frayles de Guasave dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Caballeros de Culiacan's 48. Frayles de Guasave forced 20 Caballeros de Culiacan turnovers. Strangely Caballeros de Culiacan outrebounded Frayles de Guasave 37-22 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American-Libyan center Hiram Fuller (206-81, college: Fresno St.) fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Alonso Izaguirre (200-76) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Frayles de Guasave's coach Jose Dilone used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) produced 19 points and 4 assists and Ricardo Lopez added 16 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Coras de Tepic won fourth quarter 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and naturalized American point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) supported him with 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Ray Reese (196-87, college: Tulsa) added 22 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Tijuana - Navolato 71-62
Very expected game when 8th ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (10-22) was defeated on the road by third ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (22-10) 71-62. It looked good early as Garra Canera de Navolato took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Tijuana Zonkeys had a 24-7 second period charge getting the lead and Garra Canera de Navolato was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-71. Tijuana Zonkeys dominated on the defensive end, holding Garra Canera de Navolato to just 7 points in second quarter. They shot 62.0 percent from the field. Tijuana Zonkeys had a 24-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa, agency: Edge Sports) who helped to win the game recording 17 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). The former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) contributed with 11 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach Luis Lopez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Charles Moore (201-86, college: S.Arkansas) replied with 13 points and 9 rebounds and forward Froylan Verdugo (196-79) added 13 points in the effort for Garra Canera de Navolato. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 22-10 record having six points less than leader Hermosillo. Garra Canera de Navolato at the other side keeps the eighth place with 22 games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys' next round opponent will be Mineros de Cananea (#6) at home. Garra Canera de Navolato will play against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo.
