Experienced American Lee Nailon (205-C/F-75) had a very impressive game in the last round for Panteras and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 5. The 37-year old had the game-high 44 points adding eight rebounds and two assists for Panteras in his team's victory, helping them to beat Fuerza Regia (#6, 3-2) 100-94. Panteras is placed at 4th position in Mexican LNBP. They are still close to the very top. Panteras would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 4-1 record. Nailon turned to be Panteras' top player in his first season with the team. Lee Nailon averages this season 17.0ppg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 30-year old American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-G-82) of league's best team Halc.Xalapa. Hickerson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds. Of course Halc.Xalapa cruised to a 90-81 relatively comfortable win over the lower-ranked Pioneros (#5, 3-2). Of course Halc.Xalapa still keep the league's top spot. A very good start of the season for his team, which won so far all 5 games without any defeat. Hickerson is a newcomer at Halc.Xalapa and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was American Travis Gabbidon (201-F) of Guerreros (#12). Gabbidon got into 30-points club by scoring 35 points in the last round. He went also for eleven rebounds and four assists. Despite Gabbidon's great performance Guerreros lost 85-102 to the higher-ranked Huracanes (#9, 3-2). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Guerreros can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Gabbidon he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Gabbidon has individually a great season in Mexico. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 21.7ppg (4th best). Gabbidon attended one of camps at Eurobasket Summer League on his way to pro basketball.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Anthony Johnson (197-G/F-79) of Huracanes - 32 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists 5. CamRon Clay (203-PF-82) of Gansos - 27 points and 11 rebounds 6. Babacar Camara (211-C-81) of Lechugueros - 18 points and 14 rebounds 7. Keith Gayden (202-F-83) of Osos - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 8. Michael Fraser (203-C/F-84) of Soles - 17 points and 12 rebounds 9. Rene Rougeau (198-G/F-86) of Toros - 18 points and 10 rebounds 10. Hector Hernandez (206-F-85) of Pioneros - 24 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

American forward Devon Pearson (198-F-84) put on an amazing game in the last round for Los Mochis, receiving a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 27. The 28-year old player had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, while his team beat Navolato (#6, 11-14) 84-72. Los Mochis maintains the 9th position in Mexican CIBACOPA. Los Mochis is bottom ranked team in the standings. They need more victories to leave last spot and improve bad 8-15 record. In the team's last game Pearson had a remarkable 64.3% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Los Mochis, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Devon Pearson averages this season 19.7ppg and 9.1rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old American Marcus Elliott (191-G-84) of Navolato. Elliott had a very good evening with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Bad luck as Navolato lost that game 72-84 to the lower-ranked Los Mochis (#9, 8-15). This loss caused Navolato to drop to 6th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 11-14 record. Elliott is one of the most experienced players at Navolato and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Kenny Jones (198-PF-84, agency: Dream Team Management) of Obregon (#7). Jones got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for six rebounds . Despite Jones' great performance Obregon lost 93-112 to the higher-ranked Hermosillo (#1, 20-5). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Obregon not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 15 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Jones could try to bring Obregon's a little bit higher in the standings. Jones has individually a great season in Mexico. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
