Jason Horton
26-year old guard Jason Horton (188-G-86) put on an amazing game in the last round for Barreteros and receives a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 17.
He got a double-double of 23 points and 16 assists, while his team beat Corr.Victoria (#11, 7-11) 104-93. Barreteros maintains the 8th position in Mexican LNBP. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Barreteros will need more victories to improve their 10-8 record. In the team's last game Horton had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Barreteros' top player in his first season with the team. University of Missouri graduate has very impressive stats this year. Horton is league's best passer with 8.1apg. Horton Worth to mention Horton played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

Second best performed player last round was Eugene Phelps (198-F) of Abejas. He is American forward in his first season at Abejas. In the last game Phelps recorded impressive double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds. Of course he lead Abejas to another comfortable win 98-85 over the higher-ranked Halc.Rojos (#4, 13-5) being unquestionably team leader. Abejas' 7th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 10-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Phelps is a newcomer at Abejas and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.6ppg (#5). He also registered 8.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Ricardo Melendez (179-PG-83, agency: Paris Global Sports) of Panteras (#5). Melendez got into 30-points club by scoring 37 points in the last round. He was a key player of Panteras, leading his team to a 102-88 easy win against the lower-ranked Huracanes (#9, 9-7). Panteras needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 7 lost games. Melendez has a great season in Mexico. After 18 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.2ppg (best scorer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jerome Habel (208-F-85) of Barreteros - 26 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Steffphon Pettigrew (195-F) of Abejas - 22 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Travis Gabbidon (201-F) of Guerreros - 22 points and 8 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
