Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-F/C-76) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Panteras, receiving a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 18. The 36-year old player was the main contributor (21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Corr.Victoria (#11, 7-11) 79-69. Panteras maintains the 5th position in Mexican LNBP. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Panteras will need more victories to improve their 11-7 record. Garcia turned to be Panteras' top player in his first season with the team. Former Kentucky Wesleyan College star has very solid stats this year. Garcia leads league in rebounds with 10.8rpg. Garcia is in league's top in and averages impressive 67.9% FGP.
The second best player in last round's games was -year old American Eugene Phelps (198-F) of Abejas. Phelps had a very good evening with a double-double of 31 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Abejas lost that game 88-97 to the higher-ranked Halc.Xalapa (#1, 17-1). Abejas managed to keep the same 7th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 10-8 record is not bad and everything may still change. Phelps is a newcomer at Abejas, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.6ppg (#5). He also registered 8.8 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Jerome Habel (208-F-85) of Barreteros (#8). Habel scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Habel's great performance Barreteros lost 89-97 to slightly lower-ranked Huracanes (#9, 9-7). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Barreteros needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 10 victories and 8 lost games. Habel has a very solid season. In 15 games in Mexico he scored 19.1ppg. He also has 7.0rpg, 1.9bpg and FGP: 60.9%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Ricardo Melendez (179-PG-83) of Panteras - 37 points and 2 rebounds 5. Steffphon Pettigrew (195-F) of Abejas - 24 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists 6. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The last season Puckett played at Bigua (LUB) where in 17 games he averaged remarkable 16.0ppg, 6.6rpg and 2.2apg. Great season indeed as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Uruguay LUB Honorable Mention. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others Puckett's team was regular season runner-up in Chilean Liga Nacional in 2014. He was also voted Latinbasket.com All-Uruguay LUB Import Player of the Year back in 2011. Puckett is quite experienced player. His career allowed him to visit three different continents, while he played in ten different countries. Puckett tasted the life as pro basketball player in Asia, Latin America and of course North America. He has played previously professionally in Argentina (Union de Sunchales), Finland, Japan (Kagawa Five Arrows and Shimane Magic), Portugal, Uruguay (Aguada and Trouville), Ecuador (Universidad Tecnologica Equinoc. Quito), IBA (Gwinett Majic), Chile (Boston College), UBA (GIE Maile Matrix) and NEBA (Atlanta Live). Puckett attended Clayton & State until 2005 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season as a professional player. On Puckett:
BJ is a complete basketball player who is able score both in the post and knock down the 3-point shot. He is a good passer, solid rebounder and a defender who uses his length to block shots. BJ is a player who wants the ball in his hands to make plays and is not afraid to take and make the clutch shot as he did many times for Clayton St.
