Experienced American Myron Allen (182-PG-79) had an amazing evening in the last round for Corr.Victoria and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 26. The 33-year old playmaker had the game-high 40 points adding three rebounds and three assists for Corr.Victoria in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Gigantes (#16, 2-24) 88-87. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on the top of the standings. Corr.Victoria maintains the 11th position in Mexican LNBP. Corr.Victoria is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 10-16 record. In the team's last game Allen had a remarkable 64.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Corr.Victoria's top player in his first season with the team. Lee College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Allen is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 5.3apg) and averages solid 59.6% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old American forward Steffphon Pettigrew (195-F-89) of Abejas. Pettigrew impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 12 rebounds. Of course he lead Abejas to another comfortable win 108-95 over the lower-ranked Gansos (#15, 4-23) being unquestionably team leader. Abejas' 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 14-12 record is not bad and everything may still change. Pettigrew is a newcomer at Abejas and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.4ppg (#6). He also registered 6.8 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was American Antonio Grant (198-F-76, agency: Interperformances) of Gigantes (#16). Grant got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for ten rebounds . Despite Grant's great performance Gigantes lost 87-88 to the higher-ranked Corr.Victoria (#11, 10-16). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Gigantes can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have extremely bad season and 2-24 record places them at the very bottom of the standings. Too bad for Grant he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Grant has a very solid season. In 5 games in Mexico he scored 14.8ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Babacar Camara (211-C-81) of Lechugueros - 20 points, 16 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Lance Allred (211-C-81) of Fuerza Regia - 24 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Shannon Shorter (193-G-89) of Gansos - 33 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Marcus Morrison (198-G/F-84) of Huracanes - 29 points and 6 rebounds 8. Keith Gayden (202-F-83) of Guerreros - 23 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists 9. Jermaine Johnson (201-F-85) of Gigantes - 31 points and 7 rebounds 10. DerMarr Johnson (206-G-80) of Osos - 27 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
