Ricardo
Melendez
29-year old point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-PG-83, agency: Paris Global Sports) put on an amazing game in the last round for Panteras and receives a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 27.
He had the game-high 44 points adding four rebounds for Panteras in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Fuerza Regia (#7, 15-12) 92-90. Panteras is placed at 5th position in Mexican LNBP. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Panteras will need more victories to improve their 19-8 record. In the team's last game Melendez had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He turned to be Panteras' top player in his first season with the team. Melendez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 25.6ppg) and averages solid 52.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Marcus Morrison (198-G/F-84) of Huracanes. He is American swingman in his first season at Huracanes. In the last game Morrison recorded impressive double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Huracanes lost that game 80-94 to slightly higher-ranked Fuerza Regia (#7, 15-12). Huracanes managed to keep the same 9th spot in Round 8. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 14-12 record is not bad and everything may still change. Morrison is a newcomer at Huracanes and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.3ppg (#9). He also registered 6.5 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Jerome Habel (208-F-85) of Barreteros (#10). Habel scored 28 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Habel's great performance Barreteros lost 84-100 to the higher-ranked Toros (#3, 20-7). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Barreteros ranking at the top of , however are very questionable as they have already lost 16 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Habel could help Barreteros to bring them higher in the standings. Habel has a great season in Mexico. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.0rpg (9th best). He also has 1.7bpg and FGP: 62.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Babacar Camara (211-C-81) of Lechugueros - 24 points and 13 rebounds
5. Mike Williams (201-F/C-85) of Pioneros - 32 points and 8 rebounds
6. Shannon Shorter (193-G-89) of Gansos - 35 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists
7. Ike Ofoegbu (205-F-85) of Toros - 29 points and 12 rebounds
8. Kentrell Gransberry (206-C-85) of Soles - 22 points and 12 rebounds
9. Orlando Mendez-Valdez (185-G-86) of Halc.Xalapa - 29 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Marcus Morrison (198-G/F-84) of Huracanes - 28 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
