Cyrus Tate is a newcomer at Huracanes, ex Oita H.Devils - Jan 4, 2013

Huracanes de Tampico (LNBP) strengthened their roster with addition of 28-year old American power forward Cyrus Tate (203-120kg-85, college: Iowa). He already started the season at Oita H.Devils in Japanese BJ League. In 15 games this season he recorded very impressive stats: 17.7ppg, 9.7rpg, 1.6apg and 1.3spg. The last summer Tate played at Tijuana Zonkeys. In 48 CIBACOPA games he averaged impressive 15.5ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.4apg. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Great season indeed as he was voted to Latinbasket.com All-Mexican CIBACOPA Honorable Mention. Tate also played at Final Genclik in Turkish TB2L earlier that season. In 23 games last season he averaged 13.4ppg and 5.7rpg.
The previous (10-11) season he played at Oita Heat Devils in BJ League. In 11 games that year he averaged 11.9ppg and 8.6rpg. The other team Tate played shortly was Espartanos in Venezuelan league. In three Liga Americas games he averaged 3.3ppg and 1.3rpg. Another team he played briefly was Bakersfield Jam in D-League.
Three years ago (a year after he left the college) Tate was drafted by Bakersfield Jam (D-League) as #5 pick overall.
The former University of Iowa star is in his fourth season in pro basketball.

Chorale de Roanne Basket (ProB) inked 26-year old American guard Roberto Nelson (190-90kg-91, college: Oregon State). He played recently at Toros in Mexican LNBP. In 12 games he recorded 12.3ppg, 2.5rpg and 4.5apg this season. Nelson also played earlier that season for another team Delaware 87ers in U.S. semi-pro league D-League where in 5 LNBP games he averaged 3.0ppg and 2.0rpg.
