Ricardo
Melendez
Puerto Rican Ricardo Melendez (179-PG-83, agency: Paris Global Sports) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Panteras and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 38.
The 29-year old playmaker had the game-high 53 points adding two rebounds for Panteras in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Gansos (#15, 6-33) with 32-point margin 126-94. Panteras maintains the 5th position in Mexican LNBP. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Panteras will need more victories to improve their 26-12 record. In the team's last game Melendez had a remarkable sixteen three-pointers out of 24 attempts. He turned to be Panteras' top player in his first season with the team. Melendez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 26.2ppg) and averages solid 53.7% FGP and 42.2% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 31-year old American forward Brandon Robinson (202-F-81, agency: Paris Global Sports) of Corr.Victoria. Robinson impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Corr.Victoria lost that game 89-102 to the higher-ranked Fuerza Regia (#7, 23-15). Corr.Victoria managed to keep the same 11th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 15-23 record. Robinson is a newcomer at Corr.Victoria and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was former international center Adam Parada (213-C-81) of top-ranked Halc.Xalapa. Parada scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of Halc.Xalapa, leading his team to a 91-75 easy win against the lower-ranked Lechugueros (#12, 12-26). Halc.Xalapa confirms their top position in the standings Parada has a very solid season. In 33 games in Mexico he scored 6.4ppg. He also has 4.3rpg and FGP: 59.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ian Young (191-PG-81) of Lechugueros - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 10 assists
5. Jamelle Horne (200-F-88) of Soles - 33 points and 4 rebounds
6. Garduno Abraham) of Gansos - 22 points and 8 rebounds
7. Jose Perez (197-F) of Gansos - 32 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists
8. LeRoy Hickerson (196-G-82) of Halc.Xalapa - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
9. David Huertas (195-G/F-87) of Panteras - 19 points, 2 rebounds and 10 assists
10. Jerome Habel (208-F-85) of Barreteros - 18 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Anthony Perez signs at Soles - 2 days ago

Soles de Mexicali (LNBP) landed 23-year old Venezuelan international forward Anthony Perez (206-97kg-93). He just graduated from Mississippi (NCAA). Perez has played there for the last four years. In 31 games he averaged 7.0ppg, 4.1rpg and 1.0apg last season. As mentioned above he is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball. Perez's college team won SEC Tournament in 2013. He has been also a member of Venezuelan international program for some years. Perez...   [read more]

Gutierrez comes back to the Nets - 5 days ago

Brooklyn Nets strengthened their training camp roster with addition of 28-year old Mexican international guard Jorge Gutierrez (190-88kg-88, college: California). It is actually his comeback to the Nets as he has played here before. Gutierrez is not a newcomer in USA League where he played most recently at Charlotte Hornets. But in 15 NBA games he recorded just 1.5ppg and 1.3apg last season. Gutierrez received also Latinbasket.com All-Centrobasket 1st Team award in 2016. The previous (12-...   [read more]
Perez comes back to Soles - 6 days ago

Soles de Mexicali (LNBP) strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old forward Carlos Perez (198-102kg-92). It is actually his comeback to Soles as he has played here before. Perez played in the summer at Fuerza Guinda de Nogales (CIBACOPA), but left. CIBACOPA was a little too high level for him, where in two games he did not score anything. LNBP will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. The last season Perez played at Soles. CIBACOPA was a little too hi...   [read more]
