Brandon
Brown
On December 6, the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal of FIBA ruled in arbitration (BAT 0294/12 Brown, Yam v/ Halcones UV Promotora Deportiva A.C.) that Halcones UV Xalapa owes their former player, Brandon Brown (201-F-85, college: CS San Bernar.) approximately $70,000 plus interest. On June 30, 2011, the parties entered into a guaranteed contract ("Agreement") for the 2011-2012 season. On September 23, 2011, the parties entered into a termination agreement providing for severance payments to be made to Brown. The agreed upon severance payments were never made. In thedecision by the arbitrator, he states, that "when the Parties entered into the termination agreement, it was expressed in clear terms that they were going their separate ways for agreed severance sums but that if those sums were not paid, the original financial obligations contained in the Agreement would be reinstated." The arbitrator ruled that when Halcones UV Xalapa failed to make the severance payments in the termination agreement, the financial obligations in the Agreement were revived and the arbitrator ruled that Halcones UV Xalapa owes Brown approximately $70,000 plus interest. Halcones UV Xalapa has failed to pay such judgment. Eurobasket has learned that based upon the team's failure to adhere to FIBA's decision, Brown's attorneys are requesting that FIBA enforce the judgment, levy additional fines and sanctions against Halcones UV Xalapa and block the team from signing new players in the future until the judgment is paid. Halcones UV Xalapa is currently in first place in Mexico with a record of 34-4 as they enter the playoffs as the #1 seed.

24-year old forward Fabian Jaimes (198-F-92) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Panteras and receives a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 28. He had a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds, while his team beat Santos (#8, 11-19) 95-88. Panteras is placed at 2nd position in Mexican LNBP. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Panteras will need more victories to improve their 17-1...   [read more]

LNBP Round 28: Ciudad beats Toros by two after a very close game - 1 day ago
Host teams show no mercy winning all games. The most exciting game of round 28 in the LNBP took place in Ciudad Juarez. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Toros (16-12) to eighth ranked Ciudad (11-16) 96-94 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Tony Bennett (185-84, college: Bradley) who helped to win the game recording 19 point...   [read more]
