Soles - Panteras 92-82

Soles claimed the second consecutive win over Panteras. The game was mostly controlled by Soles. Panteras managed to win fourth quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Soles dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 26. Soles forced 21 Panteras turnovers. 29 personal fouls committed by Panteras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Panamanian forward Jamelle Horne (200-88, college: Arizona) who scored 28 points. American center Kentrell Gransberry (206-85, college: S.Florida) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83, agency: Paris Global Sports) produced 24 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international guard Karim Malpica (190-78) added 10 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Toros - Pioneros 92-87

Toros are now 2-0 up on Pioneros following another home win. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pioneros won fourth quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Toros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Pioneros' players. The best player for the winners was American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: ProSportsCareers) who scored 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. American-Puerto Rican point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76) chipped in 23 points. The former international forward Stephen Soriano (201-84, college: Colorado Mesa) produced 21 points and American power forward Mike Williams (201-85, college: Cincinnati) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Five Toros and four Pioneros players scored in double figures.

Halcones Rojos came up with another impressive defensive performance to take 2-0 lead in the quartefinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones Rojos. Fuerza Regia managed to win third quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Venezuelan power forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Curtis Stinson (191-83, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos' coach Eddie Casiano used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Lance Allred (211-81, college: Weber St., agency: SportsTalent) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and American guard Mario West (195-84, college: Georgia Tech) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests.

Halcones Xalapa eased past Abejas to ensure a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven quarterfinal series. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones UV Xalapa. Abejas managed to win third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Abejas 51-35 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Halcones UV Xalapa looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who scored 19 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. International guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (185-86, college: W.Kentucky) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Eugene Phelps (198, college: Long Beach St.) added 21 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

Aaguacateros Michoacan (LNBP) signed 26-year old American guard Roberto Nelson (190-90kg-91, college: Oregon State) from Toros. In 10 LNBP games in Mexico he had 13.0ppg, 2.7rpg and 3.4apg this season. Nelson also spent pre-season at Roseto Sharks (Serie A) in Italian league earlier that year. He has tried to make it to the NBA and played in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2014. Experienced American-Dominican Rep. Antonio Pena (204-PF-86) had a great game in the last round for Santos and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 19.
