B.J. West
American Forward B.J. West (211-F-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for Santos, receiving a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 26.
The 27-year old player had a double-double of 30 points and 21 rebounds, while his team Santos is placed at 6th position in Mexican LNBP. Santos is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 17th lost game this season out of 28 games. In the team's last game West had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Santos' top player in his first season with the team. Former Jackson State University star has very solid stats this year. West is in league's top in points (7th best: 18.2ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 11.3rpg) and averages impressive 1.2bpg and 54.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 34-year old Dominican Rep. Manuel Guzman (204-F/C-82) of Abejas. Guzman had a very good evening with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists. It was enough for Abejas to edge the higher-ranked Santos (#6, 11-17) 92-90. Abejas' 9th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-19 record. Guzman is a newcomer at Abejas, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-C-83, agency: BeoBasket) of league's top team Fuerza Regia. Akindele showcased his all-around game by recording 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Fuerza Regia, leading his team to a 86-73 easy win against #3 ranked Toros in a game of the week. Many experts and fans count Fuerza Regia as a contender for championship title. Another victory and another confirmation that they may be right. Just look at their record: 26 victories and only one lost game. They are currently at the very top of the standings. Akindele has a great season in Mexico. After 24 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.2rpg (3rd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Grandy Glaze (204-F) of Correcaminos - 18 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Sammy Yeager (193-F-89) of Toros - 24 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Javier Mojica (190-SG-84) of Panteras - 24 points and 4 rebounds
7. Kennedy Jones (201-F) of Correcaminos - 21 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Eder Zuniga (190-SG-87) of Abejas - 13 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Roman Martinez (201-SF-88) of Soles - 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Franco Harris (182-PG-83) of Santos - 17 points, 2 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Sosa Carrion's 32-point game gives him LNBP Player of the Week award - 3 days ago
27-year old guard Isaac Sosa Carrion (190-G-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for Panteras and receives a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 17. He had the game-high 32 points adding three rebounds and six assists for Panteras in his team's victory, helping them to beat Libertadores (#11, 4-11) 102-87. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Panteras maintains the 9th position in Mexican LNBP....   [read more]
