Andy Panko
Experienced American Andy Panko (203-F-77, agency: BeoBasket) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Fuerza Regia and that's him to receive a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 27.
The 39-year old forward had the game-high 34 points adding six rebounds and two assists for Fuerza Regia in his team's victory, helping them to outclass Toros (#3, 16-11) with 33-point margin 92-59. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Fuerza Regia to consolidate first place in the Mexican LNBP. Fuerza Regia has a very good season and are considered to have a run for the championship title. They improved their record to 27-1. In the team's last game Panko had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 7 attempts. He turned to be Fuerza Regia's top player in his first season with the team. Andy Panko averages this season 17.4ppg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was -year old Canadian forward Grandy Glaze (204-F) of Correcaminos. Glaze impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 25 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Correcaminos lost that game 89-101 to the higher-ranked Barreteros (#6, 11-16). Correcaminos are still at the very bottom. 21 lost games are too many comparing to just six victories Correcaminos managed to get this year. Glaze is a newcomer at Correcaminos and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Paul Marigney (192-G-82) of Barreteros (#6). Marigney showcased his all-around game by recording 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Barreteros, leading his team to a 101-89 win against the lower-ranked Correcaminos (#10, 6-21). The chances of Barreteros ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 16 games, recording just eleven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Marigney could help Barreteros to bring them higher in the standings. Marigney has a very solid season. In 27 games in Mexico he scored 17.2ppg. He also has 5.7rpg, 4.0apg, FGP: 53.2% and 3PT: 42.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Justin Keenan (202-F/C-88) of Soles - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Irvin Avalos (201-F) of Santos - 20 points and 3 rebounds
6. Carl Jones (180-PG-91) of Barreteros - 19 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists
7. Wayne Chism (206-PF-87) of Garzas - 21 points and 9 rebounds
8. Cesar Cortes (200-F/C-81) of Fuerza Regia - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists
9. B.J. West (211-F-89) of Santos - 17 points and 10 rebounds
10. Fernando Benitez (204-F/C-89) of Panteras - 16 points and 5 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Sosa Carrion's 32-point game gives him LNBP Player of the Week award - 3 days ago
27-year old guard Isaac Sosa Carrion (190-G-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for Panteras and receives a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 17. He had the game-high 32 points adding three rebounds and six assists for Panteras in his team's victory, helping them to beat Libertadores (#11, 4-11) 102-87. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Panteras maintains the 9th position in Mexican LNBP....   [read more]

LNBP Round 17: Fuerza Regia keeps a leadership position - 4 days ago
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Fuerza Regia as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Fuerza Regia defeated 9th ranked Toros in Monterrey 82-78. American forward Andy Panko (203-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: BeoBasket) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field).
