Host teams show no mercy winning all games.

The most exciting game of round 28 in the LNBP took place in Ciudad Juarez. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Toros (16-12) to eighth ranked Ciudad (11-16) 96-94 on Thursday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Tony Bennett (185-84, college: Bradley) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 8 assists. Swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Lorrenzo Wade (201-85, college: San Diego St., agency: DTMones) replied with 22 points and 8 rebounds for Toros. Toros' coach Jose Martinez Boglio tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ciudad moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Barreteros. Toros lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the third position with 12 games lost. They share it with Garzas and Panteras. Ciudad is again looking forward to face higher ranked Toros (#5) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Toros will have a break next round.

At the losing side Dominican power forward Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds. Fuerza Regia have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 28-1 record. Abejas at the other side keep the ninth place with 20 games lost. Fuerza Regia will again play against Abejas (#9) in Guanajuato in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Abejas will have a break next round.

Garzas' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds by Grandy Glaze did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. Garzas moved-up to third place, which they share with Toros and Panteras. Correcaminos lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Garzas will again meet at home bottom-ranked Correcaminos (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Correcaminos will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 28 Santos were beaten by Panteras on the road 95-88.

Fuerza Regia - Abejas 79-70

LNBP top team - Fuerza Regia (28-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat ninth ranked Abejas (9-20) in Monterrey 79-70. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Abejas won second period 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fuerza Regia made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Andy Panko (203-77, college: Lebanon Valley, agency: BeoBasket) who added 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The game between fifth ranked Garzas (16-12) and 10th ranked Correcaminos (6-22) in Plata Hidalgo on Thursday ended with biggest points difference. Garzas outscored guests from Ciudad Victoria 106-68. The game was mostly controlled by Garzas. Correcaminos managed to win second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Garzas shot 61.3 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Garzas looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Correcaminos' players. The winners were led by American Wayne Chism (206-87, college: Tennessee) who scored that evening 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) supported him with 13 points and 12 assists. Four Garzas players scored in double figures. Garzas' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds by Canadian forward Grandy Glaze (204, college: Grand Canyon) did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. American swingman L.D. Williams (193-88, college: Wake Forest, agency: Basket Management Solutions) added 20 points for lost side. Garzas moved-up to third place, which they share with Toros and Panteras. Panteras - Santos 95-88

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Panteras (16-12) beat 7th ranked Santos (11-18) in Aguascalientes 95-88 on Thursday. Santos were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Panteras dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Santos' 32. The winners were led by the former international forward Fabian Jaimes (198-92) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center Isaac Gutierrez (204-84) supported him with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 23 points by the former international forward Jesus Gonzalez (195-86) did not help to save the game for Santos. American forward B.J. West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Santos' coach Andres Contreras let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Panteras have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Garzas and Toros. Loser Santos dropped to the eighth position with 18 games lost. Panteras will again meet at home Santos (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Santos will have a break next round.
