Carl Jones
American Point guard Carl Jones (180-PG-91, agency: DTMones) put on an amazing game in the last round for Barreteros, receiving a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 32.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (34 points, two rebounds and eight assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Fuerza Regia (#1, 30-2) 109-100. Barreteros maintains the 7th position in Mexican LNBP. Barreteros is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 13-18 record. In the team's last game Jones had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 11 attempts. He turned to be Barreteros' top player in his first season with the team. Former Saint Joseph's University star has very solid stats this year. Jones is league's best scorer averaging so far 19.1ppg. Jones is in league's top in and averages impressive 53.9% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was -year old American Tomas Sanchez (190-G) of Abejas. Sanchez had a very good evening with a double-double of 29 points and 11 assists. Bad luck as Abejas lost that game 84-92 to the higher-ranked Panteras (#5, 18-13). Abejas managed to keep the same 9th spot in the standings. 24 lost games are too many comparing to just ten victories Abejas managed to get this year. Sanchez is a newcomer at Abejas and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Barreteros' star - American guard Paul Marigney (192-G-82). Marigney scored 29 points and passed seven assists. He was another key player of Barreteros, helping his team with a 109-100 win against the higher-ranked Fuerza Regia (#1, 30-2). The chances of Barreteros ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 18 games, recording just thirteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Marigney could help Barreteros to bring them higher in the standings. Marigney has a great season in Mexico. After 30 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.0apg (9th best). He also has FGP: 54.9% and 3PT: 42.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lorrenzo Wade (201-F-85) of Toros - 29 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
5. Fabian Jaimes (198-F-92) of Panteras - 22 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Stephen Soriano (200-F-85) of Garzas - 23 points and 5 rebounds
7. Dekabriean Eldridge (191-G) of Correcaminos - 27 points and 2 assists
8. Luke Martinez (193-G-90) of Soles - 27 points and 7 rebounds
9. Arim Solares (202-F/C-83) of Indios - 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Benjamin Puckett (205-C-83) of Barreteros - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Israel Gutierrez (ex Garzas) joins Argentino - 1 day ago
Atletico Argentino Junin (LigaA) agreed terms with 24-year old Mexican international center Israel Gutierrez (206-93). He started the season at Garzas in Mexican LNBP. In 45 games he had 6.8ppg, 5.6rpg and 1.7apg this season. Quite impressive year as he was named to Mexican LNBP All-Star Game. Gutierrez ended the last season at Boca Juniors where in 8 LigaA games he recorded 6.3ppg and 6.9rpg. But the most of that year he spent at Halcones Rojos (LNBP) in Mexico.
