The Regular Season in LNBP just ended. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, extra overtimes and favorites losing the games.

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Fuerza Regia (32-4) in Monterrey on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Garzas (22-14) in overtime 80-75. Fuerza Regia was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 19-11 charge of Garzas, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 11-6. It was a great evening for American forward Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import power forward Alex Oriakhi (208-90, college: Connecticut) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Garzas have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Toros. Fuerza Regia at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost.

The most impressive stats of the last round was 14 points and 8 assists by Wilfredo Pagan of Toros.

Toros - Panteras 82-74

Rather expected game in Nuevo Laredo where 5th ranked Panteras (19-17) were defeated by third ranked Toros (22-14) 82-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 20-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Toros looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toros made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for American-Puerto Rican point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 8 assists. American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV) helped adding 12 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 blocks. The former international center Isaac Gutierrez (204-84) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Karim Scott (-88) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Five Toros and four Panteras players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Toros. Newly promoted Toros maintains third place with 22-14 record having ten points less than leader Fuerza Regia, which they share with Garzas. Panteras lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 17 games lost.

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in San Luis Potosi where eighth ranked Santos (14-22) defeated 7th ranked Ciudad (15-21) 108-102 on Saturday. Ciudad trailed by 16 points at halftime and as many as 21 after three quarters before a 35-20 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 102-108 at the end of the game. Santos outrebounded Ciudad 43-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Xavier Roberson (186-90, college: Our Lady Lake, agency: Haylett Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward BJ West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) helped adding 19 points and 9 rebounds. American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) responded with 23 points and 6 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and naturalized American guard Justin Avalos (190-87, college: Western St.) scored 22 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Santos maintains eighth place with 14-22 record. Ciudad lost their fifth game in a row. Not a big story in a game in Mexicali where 10th ranked Correcaminos (6-30) were defeated by second ranked Soles (23-13) 72-65 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 72-65. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Correcaminos' players. It was a great evening for naturalized American guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Omar Richards (203-92, college: NW Christian) helped adding 11 points and 8 rebounds. Richards is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Soles' coach Alejandro Martinez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. 27-year old guard Isaac Sosa Carrion (190-G-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for Panteras and receives a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 17. He had the game-high 32 points adding three rebounds and six assists for Panteras in his team's victory, helping them to beat Libertadores (#11, 4-11) 102-87.
