Soles outgunned Indios to take 1-0 lead in the quarterfinal series. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-83. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Venezuelan forward Anthony Perez (206-93, college: Mississippi) fired 32 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) chipped in 27 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Tony Bennett (185-84, college: Bradley) produced 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Jorge Camacho (203-89, college: E.Kentucky) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Toros beat Panteras to grab the advantage in the series. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-70. American-Puerto Rican point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76) fired 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. American guard Roberto Nelson (190-91, college: Oregon St.) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. Toros' coach Jose Martinez Boglio used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Garzas prevailed against Barreteros in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Garzas. Barreteros managed to win second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Barreteros 34-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. Garzas shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. American forward Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) fired 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Naturalized American guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Garzas players scored in double figures. The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Fuerza Regia (12-6) in Monterrey on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by tenth ranked Toros (6-10) 97-82. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. 27-year old guard Isaac Sosa Carrion (190-G-90) put on an amazing game in the last round for Panteras and receives a Latinbasket.com LNBP Player of the Week award for round 17. He had the game-high 32 points adding three rebounds and six assists for Panteras in his team's victory, helping them to beat Libertadores (#11, 4-11) 102-87.
