Soles outgunned Indios to take 1-0 lead in the quarterfinal series. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-83. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Venezuelan forward Anthony Perez (206-93, college: Mississippi) fired 32 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) chipped in 27 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Tony Bennett (185-84, college: Bradley) produced 19 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Jorge Camacho (203-89, college: E.Kentucky) added 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Toros beat Panteras to grab the advantage in the series. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-70. American-Puerto Rican point guard Wilfredo Pagan (184-76) fired 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Garzas prevailed against Barreteros in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Garzas. Barreteros managed to win second period 21-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Barreteros 34-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. Garzas shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. LNBP newcomer Capitanes Ciudad de Mexico strengthened their roster with addition of 32-year old Venezuelan guard Jesus Centeno (190-85). He played in the summer at Iccan in Ecuadorian National League. In 24 games he recorded very impressive stats: 15.0ppg, 2.9rpg and 3.8apg.
