Here is the weekly review of the top performing Mexican players, who play currently abroad.

Gustavo Ayon
Gustavo Ayon
#1. This week's number one is an international power forward Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St., currently plays in Euroleague). He could not help Real Madrid (18-6) in their last game. Despite Ayon's good performance Real Madrid was edged 87-84 on the road by the much lower-ranked (#14) Galatasaray. He scored 10 points in 19 minutes on the court. It was Real Madrid's first loss after nine consecutive victories. This year Ayon averages: 9.5ppg, 4.9rpg, 2.4apg, 1.1spg, 2FGP: 69.8%(104-149) and FT: 46.7% in 24 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Mexican senior national team.

Edgar Garibay
Edgar Garibay
#2. Second place goes to an international forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St., currently plays in Venezuela). Garibay led Guaiqueries to a 1-point victory against the fourth-ranked Guaros (0-2) 90-89 in the Venezuelan LPB last Wednesday. He scored 14 points, had 6 rebounds, passed 3 assists and added 2 blocks; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Garibay's third season in pro basketball. Guaiqueries de Margarita (2-2) is placed third in Eastern Conference. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Garibay's overall stats this year are: 9.7ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.7apg, 2FGP: 47.8% and FT: 58.3%. He is a naturalized American. Garibay is in the roster of the Mexican senior national team. He used to play for Lechugueros de Leon in Mexican league.

Francisco Cruz
Francisco Cruz

Cruz contributed to a Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's victory against the closely-ranked Zaragoza (7-15) 93-80 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night. He scored 7 points in only 12 minutes. Montakit Fuenlabrada (10-12) is placed tenth in the Liga Endesa. This year Cruz's overall stats are: 9.1ppg, 1.4rpg, 2.0apg, 2FGP: 54.7%, 3FGP: 30.6% and FT: 81.8% in 21 games. Orlando Mendez-Valdez
#4. Point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, agency: Pro Sports, college: W.Kentucky, currently plays in Israel) managed to help Maccabi Hunter Haifa to win against the closely-ranked Maccabi Rishon (10-11) 83-79 in the Israeli Winner League in Sunday night's game. He scored only 4 points, made 3 passes and 3 steals. Maccabi Hunter Haifa (10-11) is placed seventh in the Winner League. Mendez-Valdez's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Mendez-Valdez's total stats this season are: 9.9ppg, 1.6rpg, 2.3apg and 1.4spg. He is a naturalized American. Mendez-Valdez is also Mexican national team player. Jorge Gutierrez
#5. International guard Jorge Gutierrez (190-88, college: California, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to help Trabzonspor in their game against Galatasaray (12-8) in the Turkish BSL. Gutierrez scored only 4 points in 20 minutes. Trabzonspor lost 73-80 at home to the higher-ranked (#6) Galatasaray. It's Gutierrez's first season with the team. This year his total stats are: 9.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 4.4apg and 1.2spg in 10 games. Gutierrez plays currently for the Mexican national team.
