Round 4 means everything may happen in CIBACOPA as the season just started. There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Undefeated Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (2-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (2-1) 107-98. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. Rayos de Hermosillo shot 60.7 percent from the field and made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Halcones de Ciudad Obregon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. DR Congolese-Canadian guard Myck Kabongo (191-92, college: Texas) fired 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: Cent.Florida) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. Puerto Rican point guard Nick Leon (181-88, college: St.Peter's) produced 27 points (made all of his eight free throws) for lost side. Rayos de Hermosillo moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play again at home against the league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was between sixth ranked Garra Canera de Navolato and 7th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan where Garra Canera de Navolato (2-1) beat Caballeros de Culiacan (1-2) on the road 84-76. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) who helped to win the game recording 28 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. Mychal Ammons contributed with 24 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Canadian forward Grandy Glaze (204, college: Grand Canyon) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for Caballeros de Culiacan. Garra Canera de Navolato moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Caballeros de Culiacan at the other side keeps the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Guaymas. Garra Canera de Navolato will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Caballeros de Culiacan will play again at home against Garra Canera de Navolato (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Guaymas. Top-ranked Tijuana Zonkeys faced 3rd ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas. Guests from Tijuana (4-0) defeated host Ostioneros de Guaymas (1-2) 90-83. Worth to mention a great performance of Marcus Morrison who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. At the losing side Brandon Provost responded with 17 points and 8 assists. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Loser Ostioneros de Guaymas dropped to the seventh place with two games lost. They share the position with Culiacan. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play again against the league's leader Tijuana Zonkeys (#1) and hope to win that game.

But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The winners were led by Sammy Yeager who scored that evening 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Pioneros Los Mochis at the other side still closes the standings with three games lost. Frayles de Guasave's next round opponent will be again Pioneros Los Mochis (#9) at home and are hoping to win another game.

But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Taj Gray fired 34 points (!!!) for the winners. Lobos UAD Mazatlan's coach Eric Weissling used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Aguilas Doradas de Durango still closes the standings with four games lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will have a break next round. Aguilas Doradas de Durango will play again at home against Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Obregon - Hermosillo 98-107

Tijuana Zonkeys dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ostioneros de Guaymas' 32. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the other American import center Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) who added 20 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Frayles de Guasave outrebounded Pioneros Los Mochis 35-21 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds.
