There were just five rounds played in Regular Season of CIBACOPA and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and even winless team recording their first victory.

The most surprising game was the first loss of Tijuana Zonkeys (4-1) on the court of eighth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by Ostioneros de Guaymas 85-74. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tijuana Zonkeys. American center Shane Heyward (200-92, college: Columbus St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). His fellow American import guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) answered with 16 points and 7 rebounds for Tijuana Zonkeys. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas (2-2) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Mazatlan and Obregon. Tijuana Zonkeys at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#10) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Rayos de Hermosillo (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game for Rayos de Hermosillo (3-1) which played on the court of Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (2-2). Second ranked Rayos de Hermosillo had an easy win 105-91. American players dominated the game. Forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: Cent.Florida) stepped up and scored 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and Anthlon Bell chipped in 20 points. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 21 rebounds. Rayos de Hermosillo have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 3-1 record behind leader Tijuana, which they share with Guasave and Navolato. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Mazatlan and Guaymas. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against league's leader Tijuana Zonkeys at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Garra Canera de Navolato (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Aguilas Doradas de Durango's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (2-2) 98-87 on Wednesday. Dominique Keller nailed 31 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Michael Lizarraga came up with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for Lobos UAD Mazatlan in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aguilas Doradas de Durango (1-4) left bottom position moving up to ninth place. Defending champion Lobos UAD Mazatlan dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Obregon and Guaymas. Aguilas Doradas de Durango will meet at home higher ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will play against the league's second-placed Frayles de Guasave and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis is still unable to win any game. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fourth consecutive match to third ranked Frayles de Guasave (3-1) 96-90. American players dominated also this game. The best player for the winners was Travis Franklin who scored 35 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to second place, which they share with Hermosillo and Navolato.
