26-year old center Allen West (206-C-91) had a great game in the last round for league's best team Guaymas and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 9. He had a double-double of 27 points and 15 rebounds, while his team edged out Guasave (#7, 5-5) 98-95. It allowed Guaymas to take over top position in the Mexican league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Guaymas has a very solid 7-3 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. West just recently signed at Guaymas, being already a very valuable addition to the team. The University of Nevada graduate has very impressive stats this year. West is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.7ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 10.7rpg) and averages solid 2.3bpg.
Second best performed player last round was Devin White (203-F-88) of Mazatlan. He is American forward in his first season at Mazatlan. In the last game White recorded impressive double-double of 26 points and 14 rebounds. It was enough for Mazatlan to edge slightly higher-ranked Los Mochis (3-7) by 2 points 105-103. Despite this victory Mazatlan slide down in the standings to 9th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 3-7 record. White is one of the most experienced players at Mazatlan and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to center Joaquin Villanueva (207-C-86) of Hermosillo (#6). Villanueva scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Despite Villanueva's great performance Hermosillo lost 87-99 to the higher-ranked Navolato (#3, 6-3). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Hermosillo needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 5 victories and 5 lost games. Villanueva has a very solid season. In 8 games in Mexico he scored 8.4ppg. He also has 4.8rpg and FGP: 55.8%. Joaquin Villanueva has also Mexican passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Olaniyi Akingkube (208-C) of Los Mochis - 20 points, 16 rebounds and 3 assists 5.
