It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in CIBACOPA, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

Undefeated Frayles de Guasave (5-1) recorded its first loss on the court of seventh ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Lobos UAD Mazatlan 95-92. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Frayles de Guasave. The former international swingman Jorge-Alfredo Casillas (196-90) fired 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American swingman Cliff Tucker (198-89, college: Maryland) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St., agency: Interperformances) produced 33 points (!!!) for lost side. Defending champion maintains seventh place with 2-4 record, which they share with Culiacan. Frayles de Guasave at the other side still keeps top position with one game lost. Lobos UAD Mazatlan is looking forward to face Caballeros de Culiacan (#8) on the road in the next round. Frayles de Guasave will play against Rayos de Hermosillo (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Hermosillo. Second ranked Rayos de Hermosillo faced 3rd placed Tijuana Zonkeys. Host Rayos de Hermosillo (4-2) defeated guests from Tijuana (5-2) 92-82. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: Cent.Florida) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds. Steve Monreal contributed with 18 points and 6 assists for the winners. American center Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for Tijuana Zonkeys. Rayos de Hermosillo have a solid series of four victories in a row. Despite that victory Rayos de Hermosillo went down to third position due to points difference, which they share with Navolato. Tijuana Zonkeys at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against league's leader Frayles de Guasave on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Pioneros Los Mochis and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game in Navolato was also quite interesting. 4th placed Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (3-3) played at the court of fifth ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (4-2). Garra Canera de Navolato managed to secure a 8-point victory 85-77 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Mychal Ammons who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. Garra Canera de Navolato's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Glen Rice-Jr responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds. Garra Canera de Navolato moved-up to third place, which they share with Hermosillo. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Guaymas. Garra Canera de Navolato will meet Ostioneros de Guaymas (#5) on the road in the next round. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Aguilas Doradas de Durango and hope to secure a win.

It ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (2-5) to ninth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (2-4) 84-82 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aguilas Doradas de Durango. It was an exceptional evening for Benjamin Puckett who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Caballeros de Culiacan moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Mazatlan. Newly promoted Aguilas Doradas de Durango dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan's next round opponent will be Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#7) at home. Aguilas Doradas de Durango will play against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon and hope to win that game.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Los Mochis. Local Pioneros Los Mochis (1-5) lost to sixth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (3-3) 101-86 on Saturday night. Paul Marigney fired 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ostioneros de Guaymas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Obregon. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis stay at the bottom position with five games lost. Ostioneros de Guaymas will face higher ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (#4) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's second-placed Tijuana Zonkeys (#2) and hope to win that game.

Navolato - Obregon 85-77

The game in Navolato was also quite interesting. 4th placed Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (3-3) played at the court of fifth ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (4-2). Garra Canera de Navolato managed to secure a 8-point victory 85-77 on Saturday. It was a great evening for American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) helped adding 26 points and 9 rebounds. Four Garra Canera de Navolato players scored in double figures. Garra Canera de Navolato's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized American swingman Joseph Hutchingson (196-87, college: Lincoln, MO) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Garra Canera de Navolato moved-up to third place, which they share with Hermosillo. Loser Halcones de Ciudad Obregon dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Guaymas. Garra Canera de Navolato will meet Ostioneros de Guaymas (#5) on the road in the next round. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Aguilas Doradas de Durango and hope to secure a win.

The game with biggest result difference took place in Los Mochis. Local Pioneros Los Mochis (1-5) lost to sixth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (3-3) 101-86 on Saturday night. Ostioneros de Guaymas shot 62.7 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Ostioneros de Guaymas especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. His fellow American import guard Brandon Provost (190-90, college: UTRGV) chipped in 19 points. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (2-5) to ninth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (2-4) 84-82 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aguilas Doradas de Durango. Caballeros de Culiacan made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American center Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Canadian forward Grandy Glaze (204, college: Grand Canyon) accounted for 16 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. American power forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) came up with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Martin Zamarco added 14 points respectively for Aguilas Doradas de Durango in the defeat.
