Spurlock
There were just 8 rounds played in Regular Season of CIBACOPA and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Frayles de Guasave (5-2) at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (5-2) 97-87. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Frayles de Guasave. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Rayos de Hermosillo looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Frayles de Guasave's players. American forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: Cent.Florida) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Forward Jorge Camacho (203-89, college: E.Kentucky) contributed with 26 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) replied with 39 points (!!!) for Frayles de Guasave. Rayos de Hermosillo moved-up to second place, which they share with Guasave. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Frayles de Guasave will play again at home against the league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Culiacan supposed to be also worth to mention about. 7th ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (2-5) played at the court of eighth ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (3-4). Caballeros de Culiacan smashed Lobos UAD Mazatlan 105-70. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Langston Morris-Walker (196-94, college: Oregon St., agency: SDJ Sports) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 8 rebounds and Benjamin Puckett who added 14 points and 8 assists during the contest. Caballeros de Culiacan's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Cliff Tucker (198-89, college: Maryland) responded with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Caballeros de Culiacan moved-up to seventh place. Lobos UAD Mazatlan lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Caballeros de Culiacan will again play against Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#8) at home in the next round. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will have a break next round.
The game in Guaymas supposed to be also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Garra Canera de Navolato (4-3) played at the court of fifth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (4-3). Ostioneros de Guaymas smashed Garra Canera de Navolato 110-78 on Tuesday. The winners were led by Paul Marigney who scored that evening 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Even a double-double of 29 points, 19 rebounds and 6 assists by Mychal Ammons did not help to save the game for Garra Canera de Navolato. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ostioneros de Guaymas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Obregon and Navolato. Ostioneros de Guaymas will again meet at home Garra Canera de Navolato (#6) in the next round. Garra Canera de Navolato will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 8 Durango were beaten by Obregon on the road 90-86. Bottom-ranked Los Mochis lost to Tijuana on its own court 87-103.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 26 points and 15 rebounds by Leon Gibson of Tijuana.

Obregon - Durango 90-86

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (4-3) beat at home 9th ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (2-6) 90-86 on Tuesday. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by American swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) who scored that evening 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) supported him with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds by Martin Zamarco did not help to save the game for Aguilas Doradas de Durango. American power forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) added 20 points for the guests. Five Halcones de Ciudad Obregon and four Aguilas Doradas de Durango players scored in double figures. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guaymas and Navolato. Newly promoted Aguilas Doradas de Durango keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will again meet at home Aguilas Doradas de Durango (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Aguilas Doradas de Durango will have a break next round.
