Leon Gibson
25-year old center Leon Gibson (206-C-91) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Tijuana and receives a Latinbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 8.
He had a double-double of 26 points and 15 rebounds, while his team crushed Los Mochis (#10, 1-7) with 16-point margin 103-87. It allowed Tijuana to consolidate first place in the Mexican league. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. Tijuana has a very solid 7-2 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Gibson had a remarkable 84.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Tijuana, being already a very valuable addition to the team. University of Houston graduate has very impressive stats this year. Gibson is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 10.2rpg) and averages solid 63.0% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Mychal Ammons (198-F-92) of Navolato. He is American forward in his first season at Navolato. In the last game Ammons recorded impressive double-double of 29 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Navolato lost that game 78-110 to the lower-ranked Guaymas (#7, 4-4). Despite lost game Navolato moved up to 4th position in the standings. His team's 5-3 record is not bad at all. Ammons is one of the most experienced players at Navolato and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 26.4ppg (#2). He also registered 12.5 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Sammy Yeager (193-F-89) of Guasave (#3). Yeager got into 30-points club by scoring 39 points in the last round. Despite Yeager's great performance Guasave lost 87-97 to #2 ranked Hermosillo. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Guasave needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 5 victories and 3 lost games. Yeager has a great season in Mexico. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 24.8ppg (4th best) and assists with 4.9apg (3rd best). He also has FGP: 60.0% and 3PT: 43.6%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Cameron Forte (201-F-93) of Los Mochis - 30 points, 17 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Marcus Morrison (198-G/F-84) of Tijuana - 31 points, 2 rebounds and 6 assists
6. Tristan Spurlock (203-F-91) of Hermosillo - 29 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Paul Marigney (192-G-82) of Guaymas - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists
8. Jorge Camacho (203-F-89) of Hermosillo - 26 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Glen Rice Jr. (198-G/F-91) of Obregon - 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Elijah Pittman (206-F-91) of Guasave - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
