The most interesting game of round 9 was only two-point a home defeat of 3rd placed Frayles de Guasave (5-3) to second ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (6-2) 93-91 in the game for the second place. The former international point guard Steve Monreal (180-86, college: CS Monterey) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 assists for the winners and American forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: Cent.Florida) chipped in 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Rayos de Hermosillo maintains second place with 6-2 record behind leader Tijuana. Frayles de Guasave at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Obregon and Navolato. Rayos de Hermosillo are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Frayles de Guasave will play against Aguilas Doradas de Durango (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
Very significant was Garra Canera de Navolato's (#6) 92-80 road victory against 4th placed Ostioneros de Guaymas. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Ostioneros de Guaymas. American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) nailed a double-double by scoring 32 points and 20 rebounds for the winning side and Dwayne Mitchell accounted for 26 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). American-Bahrain swingman Rashad Woods (197-86, college: Kent St.) came up with 31 points and 6 rebounds for Ostioneros de Guaymas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Garra Canera de Navolato (5-3) moved-up to third place, which they share with Obregon and Guasave. Ostioneros de Guaymas at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Culiacan. Garra Canera de Navolato will play against Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play against Caballeros de Culiacan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
CIBACOPA top team - Tijuana Zonkeys (7-2) added another victory to their record on Wednesday. This time they beat tenth ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (1-7) 84-78. The best player for the winners was Leon Gibson who had a double-double by scoring 25 points and 17 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Cameron Forte who recorded a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 16-of-19 shooting from the field). Tijuana Zonkeys have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-2 record. Pioneros Los Mochis lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet at home Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (#5) in the next round. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against the league's second-placed Rayos de Hermosillo (#2) and hope to win that game.

Aguilas Doradas de Durango will play against Frayles de Guasave (#3) and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 9 Mazatlan lost to Culiacan on the opponent's court 83-89.

It was a good game for American forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Martin Zamarco answered with 29 points and American power forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) added 18 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Aguilas Doradas de Durango. The game between closely ranked teams ended with 8th ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan's (2-6) road loss to seventh ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (4-4) 83-89. Caballeros de Culiacan outrebounded Lobos UAD Mazatlan 42-28 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American center Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists. Canadian forward Grandy Glaze (204, college: Grand Canyon) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. American swingman Cliff Tucker (198-89, college: Maryland) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds and the former international swingman Jorge-Alfredo Casillas (196-90) added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Lobos UAD Mazatlan.
