The game between second ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (7-4) and fifth ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (6-4) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Tijuana Zonkeys were defeated by Halcones de Ciudad Obregon in a tough game in Tijuana 95-99. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) who scored 29 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!). Forward Landon Atterberry (198-93, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Aspire Sports) chipped in 22 points. Swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) produced a triple-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists for the hosts. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon moved-up to third place, which they share with Guaymas and Navolato. Tijuana Zonkeys at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon is looking forward to face Caballeros de Culiacan (#7) on the road in the next round. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round.
Leader Rayos de Hermosillo delivered the ninth victory. This time they beat 10th ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (1-9) 89-73. American forward Tristan Spurlock (203-91, college: Cent.Florida) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Anthlon Bell contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Cameron Forte (201-93, college: Portland St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for Pioneros Los Mochis. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rayos de Hermosillo (9-1) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place. Pioneros Los Mochis lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Garra Canera de Navolato (#5) at home in the next round. Pioneros Los Mochis will play against Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Culiacan was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (6-4) played at the court of 6th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (4-6). Ostioneros de Guaymas did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 79-62 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Rashad Woods who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 9 rebounds. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Benjamin Puckett responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Ostioneros de Guaymas moved-up to third place, which they share with Obregon and Navolato. Loser Caballeros de Culiacan dropped to the seventh position with six games lost. They share it with Mazatlan. Ostioneros de Guaymas will meet at home Frayles de Guasave (#6) in the next round. Caballeros de Culiacan will play against Halcones de Ciudad Obregon and hope to secure a win.
A very interesting game took place in Durango. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 9th ranked Aguilas Doradas de Durango (3-8) to seventh ranked Frayles de Guasave (5-5) 94-92 on Saturday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Gary Mondragon who led the winners and scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Aguilas Doradas de Durango's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Frayles de Guasave moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Aguilas Doradas de Durango keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Frayles de Guasave's next round opponent will be higher ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (#3) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Garra Canera de Navolato will face league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will play against Pioneros Los Mochis (#10) and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 11 Obregon was defeated by Tijuana in a road game 92-88.

Tijuana - Obregon 95-99

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (6-4) was defeated on the road by second ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (7-4) 92-88 on Saturday. Tijuana Zonkeys looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swingman Glen Rice-Jr (198-91, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Michael Glover (203-87, college: Iona) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Halcones de Ciudad Obregon players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys maintains second place with 7-4 record having just one point less than leader Hermosillo. The game with biggest result difference took place in Navolato. Local Garra Canera de Navolato (6-4) beat 8th ranked Lobos UAD Mazatlan (4-6) 104-86 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lobos UAD Mazatlan. Garra Canera de Navolato dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Lobos UAD Mazatlan's 46. They outrebounded Lobos UAD Mazatlan 44-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 18 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) chipped in 13 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Garra Canera de Navolato's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Cliff Tucker (198-89, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international swingman Jorge-Alfredo Casillas (196-90) added 23 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Windsor Express (NBL Canada) strengthened their roster with addition of 33-year old American power forward Taj Gray (204-107kg-84, college: Oklahoma). He played in the summer at Nauticos of Mazatlan in Mexican CIBACOPA, but left the team in April. In 7 games he recorded very impressive stats: 18.4ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.0apg.
