The most exciting game of round 13 in the CIBACOPA took place in Guaymas. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Frayles de Guasave (5-7) to second ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (8-4) 84-82 on Wednesday evening. Ostioneros de Guaymas made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Brandon Provost (190-90, college: UTRGV) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 5 assists. Guard Daniel Giron (175-89) contributed with 11 points and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) answered with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for Frayles de Guasave. Ostioneros de Guaymas have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 8-4 record having just three points less than leader Hermosillo, which they share with Obregon. Frayles de Guasave at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Mazatlan. Ostioneros de Guaymas is looking forward to face Aguilas Doradas de Durango (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Frayles de Guasave will play against Caballeros de Culiacan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Guard Michael Perez (190-91, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and Emmanuel Little chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) responded with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Rayos de Hermosillo have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Garra Canera de Navolato at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will play against Lobos UAD Mazatlan (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Garra Canera de Navolato will play against Tijuana Zonkeys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Halcones de Ciudad Obregon managed to secure a 4-point victory 74-70 on Wednesday. Glen Rice-Jr nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. Benjamin Puckett came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks for Caballeros de Culiacan in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Guaymas. Caballeros de Culiacan lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will meet at home bottom-ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caballeros de Culiacan will play against Frayles de Guasave and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Hermosillo - Navolato 102-86

CIBACOPA top team - Rayos de Hermosillo (11-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat fifth ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (6-6) 102-86. Rayos de Hermosillo players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American players dominated the game. Guard Michael Perez (190-91, college: Nevada) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) chipped in 22 points and 11 rebounds. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Windsor Express (NBL Canada) strengthened their roster with addition of 33-year old American power forward Taj Gray (204-107kg-84, college: Oklahoma). He played in the summer at Nauticos of Mazatlan in Mexican CIBACOPA, but left the team in April. In 7 games he recorded very impressive stats: 18.4ppg, 2.3rpg and 1.0apg.
