We bring you last week's top performances from Mexicans who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

Gustavo Ayon
Gustavo Ayon
#1. This week's number one is an international power forward Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St., currently plays in Euroleague). He contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Anadolu Efes (17-13) 97-80 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. Ayon scored 8 points, had 7 rebounds and made 2 blocks in only 13 minutes on the court. Real Madrid (23-7) is placed first in the Euroleague. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Euroleague Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This year Ayon averages: 9.4ppg, 4.9rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 70.3%(130-185) and FT: 46.9% in 30 games he played so far. He is currently a member of the Mexican senior national team.

Jorge Gutierrez
Jorge Gutierrez
#2. Second place goes to an international guard Jorge Gutierrez (190-88, college: California, currently plays in Turkey). He could not help Trabzonspor (8-17) in their last game. Despite Gutierrez's very good performance Trabzonspor was crushed 96-75 on the road by the higher-ranked (#8) Gaziantep. He was the top scorer with 16 points. Gutierrez also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 minutes. This year Gutierrez's overall stats are: 9.9ppg, 4.8rpg, 4.5apg, 1.6spg, 2FGP: 51.9%, 3FGP: 22.6% and FT: 62.5% in 15 games. Ex-Pioneros de Quintana Roo-Cancun player is in the roster of the Mexican senior national team.

Israel Gutierrez
Israel Gutierrez
#3. The Mexican player who performed third best last week abroad was an international center Israel Gutierrez (206-93, currently plays in Argentina). He was not able to help Argentino in their game against San Lorenzo (31-15) in the Argentinian LigaA. Gutierrez scored 9 points. But the fifth-placed Argentino (24-23) was crushed 95-67 in Almagra by the leading San Lorenzo in the Sur group. Gutierrez's total stats this season are: 7.8ppg, 5.5rpg, 2FGP: 55.6%(15-27) and FT: 68.0%. Ex-Garzas de Plata Hidalgo player is also a member of the Mexican senior national team.

Orlando Mendez-Valdez
Orlando Mendez-Valdez
#4. Point guard Orlando Mendez-Valdez (183-86, agency: Pro Sports, college: W.Kentucky, currently plays in Israel) managed to help Maccabi Hunter Haifa in a 2-point victory against the tenth-ranked Galil Gilboa (11-15) 84-82 in the Israeli Winner League last Sunday. He scored 5 points in 23 minutes. Maccabi Hunter Haifa (14-13) is placed fifth in the Winner League. It's Mendez-Valdez's first season with the team. This year Mendez-Valdez's total stats are: 9.2ppg, 1.6rpg, 2.0apg and 1.2spg in 25 games. He is a naturalized American. Mendez-Valdez is also Mexican national team player. He used to play for Halcones UV Xalapa in Mexican league.

The list of other players, who all have Mexican passport but never been selected to any of Mexican national teams:

#1. Joseph Soto (190-G-93, currently plays in Puerto Rico) could not help Vaqueros (1-3) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Soto's very good performance Vaqueros was defeated 87-82 on the road by the higher-ranked Atleticos (#6). He was the top scorer with 23 points. Soto also added 4 rebounds. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Soto has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 17.3ppg, 3.0rpg, 5.8apg and 1.8spg. Soto has a dual citizenship: Mexican and Puerto Rican.

#2. Joel Gierbolini (203-F-89, college: USC Aiken, currently plays in Puerto Rico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Joseph Soto and both played together in the last Puerto Rican BSN game. Gierbolini was not able to help Vaqueros in their game against Atleticos (2-2). He did not beat the league record on Thursday evening. Gierbolini recorded only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
